Went to check out the Surplus storeblast weekend with my son. Before we even got into the store we were having a good time. There is a WW2 statue out front and we got a fun picture. As soon as we entered the store we were both happily greeted by the shop owner. He excused himself from the other customers and asked if we needed any help. We were browsing so told him no. I'm an Army Veteran and immediately loved everything in the store. But what got me happy was my son getting excited about all the gear. Our family has recently picked up playing airsoft so we were in luck. They have multiple different kinds of bdu uniforms. And they have different war Era uniforms. Boots socks bags belts bandoliers helmets bayonets. So many different items sleep systems tents gas masks. And there are medals and all sorts of collectibles to see or buy. I was able to score some new marine digital green bottoms for my son q few boonie caps some socks. And then a laser flashlight combo. The shop owner is friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all of his stuff. He is a good man that made myself and son very comfortable. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for camo gear or collectibles. It's all there. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. And lastly I'll say I'm so happy we have a surplus store in our area. Go...
Read moresome of these reviews are plain out ridiculous, Ill address that later.
For one, the place is cramped, but cramped with LOTS of stuff that you'd want for camping, hiking, military surplus and clothing. Every time I've gone, and its been a LOT, the guys there were very helpful, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help me, even when I was just browsing. Sometimes you can get a better deal on stuff, online, but overall, the pricing is reasonable.
The guys that work there are military - military guys talk, act and interact differently than most - straightforward, up front and not PC. If that's what you're looking for, go to that place in Harvard Square.
As for the Nazi memorabilia - get a life - people collect that. It doesn't imply that the people there, people who served this country - endorse Naziism, they just sell to those who want it and yeah, there's a huge market for all things WW2.
Metwowest has me as a customer for life. Then again, its probably because I'd rather not shop with people who complain about...
Read moreAbsolute garbage. Rude shop owner. Disgrace to veterans if he is one…
This guy used to be on route 12 in Boylston. I go in at 3:45 on a Sunday afternoon and his hours say he closes at 4 o’clock. I really don’t need his help. I just wanted to look around and see his new location and see if he had any of my old unit crests.
As soon as I walk in the door, he immediately tells me that he closes in three minutes to which I replied “ but your hours say that you close at 4 o’clock” ….
To which he replies…
“ I know, but I gotta get out of here”
I said I would only take 5 to 7 minutes tops to look around and he just gave me an attitude.. all in front of customers…
After taking a few steps inside, I turned around and just left. I’ve never been treated so rude as a veteran in my life…. This guy does not belong in any customer facing business.
There are much better Army Navy stores worth traveling to than going to this guys shop and dealing with his attitude.
Don’t...
