I'm really hoping someone else takes this over after GQT runs it out of business! One of the reasons people pay to watch re-released movies at the drive in is that it tends to be enormously cheaper than watching a brand new release at a theater. The reason for this is the movies at the drive-in are not new releases so the establishment is able to make a significantly higher amount per ticket than at a traditional theater. In a traditional theater, they make most of their profits from concessions and very little from ticket sales. At the drive-in the profits are much more balanced between ticket sales and concessions. This tends to make the concessions at the drive-in considerably cheaper because they don't have to depend as heavily on the sales as traditional theaters do to make a profit. Apparently GQT is not experienced enough with owning a drive-in theater to understand this. This drive-in season has brought forth a world of changes and increased pricing at the Huntington Twin and none of them for the good. It now costs as much to watch an old movie at the drive-in as it does to watch a new release at the theater. In addition, the concessions at the drive-in are now the same prices as the GQT indoor theaters.😳 The drive-in used to be fun and affordable to the point that most families could afford to go. Thanks to the greed of GQT that's is not the case anymore. I have been going to opening night at the twin for as long as I can remember and it has always been packed full. Last night was not the same. There were maybe 2 rows of vehicles at each screen when versus past years where there were so many vehicles if you arrived a little late then you could barely find a place to park. Obviously, people are thrilled about being taken advantage of. There are other drive-in theaters around, the twin is just one of them. I will be going to 13-24 in Wabash or The Hummel in Winchester but I definitely won't be coming back here or going to any other establishment owned by GQT. They can shove their greed where the sun don't shine as far as...
Read moreIt truly is a fun experience. Although modern cars and their energy saving practices don't exactly jive when it comes to keeping your stereo on. Go into your setting in your modern car and turn of energy or battery saver so you can keep the radio going whole you listen to your movie. There's not a bad spot in the lot. Love the double features on the weekends. Newly released movies playing. The concession stand is great! Staff is friendly. They take cash or card. You can get anything from popcorn to slushies, to candy, to hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders which are good, to pork tenderloin sandwiches!!! Reasonably priced. Get the golden bucket for $1.50 plus tax refills on popcorn! Restrooms could be updated. They are tiny for the intermission break. Prices to get are really good per person. They have players and large areas to throw a ball around for the kids before the movie starts. It's a great way to spend time with family and make some good memories. All is needed is a little planning and know-how. We plan on making this a monthly event in the summer...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! GQT taking this theater over is the worst thing that has ever happened to it! We were excited to be here on opening night for the 2024 season. My family has been coming here for many years and we have always really enjoyed it. Unfortunately this will be our last visit. One of the reasons we enjoyed the drive in was because it was an affordable activity we could do as a family. Thanks to GQT that is not the case anymore. They have more than doubled the concession stand prices and it is unbelievable. They are now the same price you would pay in a theater, for example it is $4.50 for a bottle of Aquafina. I am going to guess we aren't the only people that feel this way considering the place was almost empty tonight. It will be sad to see yet another local icon out of business because of corporate greed. We will not be back, in fact, I highly recommend the 13-24 Drive- In, in Wabash. They prefer to keep it small and they don't try to price gouge you. Let Huntington take advantage of someone else.......
