This is my neighborhood DGS. I can see the store from my kitchen window and I shop here more than any other store. Located on Hwy 431 between Huntsville and Grant, AL. 1st there hours are 8am to 11pm M-Sunday. You must be familiar with prices to know if you are getting a deal. Ok, before I do my major shopping at a larger chain store I make this my 1st stop. I buy things like laundry detergent, dish soap, bar soap, softeners, toilet paper (name brands). Then I go for the pizzas usually $1 cheaper, DeGorno, Red Baron. All kinds of chicken nuggets, tenders, off brands and name brands all sold under the larger stores by 75¢ to $1. Dog food, IMS, $17.97 at big stores $16.29 you say well that's not much it adds up at the register. If nothing else it pays for my lunch. By eating lunch before major shopping I can save an extra $50 because it's a fact that if you are hungry and you go shopping for food if you are in the store a full hour you will have bought $25 to $30 more due to your craving to eat. This store is well stocked and clean. You know what they carry and their prices, you will save money. If you are on their mailing list you can get special deals on certain days. By being open until 11pm daily all surrounding stores are closed, so the locals are the last minute shoppers that makes it worth their while to keep the doors open late as well as stock clerks are putting out stock in the slow time in the evening. They do not have so much out that they block the iles. They keep it to a couple of boxes at a time. This DGS also has meat, veggies, frozen food and ice cream, everything from ice cream to baby foods. So if you are in my neck of the woods, 5 minutes south of Hampton Cove. North 431 from Guntersville or Grant, AL 15 minutes to 25 minutes away. So, I gave them a 5 star rating because of their hours, low prices, cleanleness, stocked shelves and their friendly service. And did I tell you they have Gasoline, if you buy or put money on their gas card you get a savings of 3¢ per gallon off. Come and visit "my" Dollar General Store in...
Read moreThis dollar general used to be good until the dark haired overweight Hispanic looking girl got hired here. She is by far the rudest laziest employee I’ve ever came across. I was once waiting at the checkout line for over 5 minutes with no cashier or employee in sight. I literally could have walked out of the store with my things and no one would have noticed. Finally after 5-6 minutes the woman strolls out of the bathroom looking at her phone, making no hurry to Check us out, and didn’t even acknowledge us or act like they were there. Finally she gets to the cash register and rings us up without apologizing for the weight. Aside from that experience, everytime I go here and she’s working the register she is sighing, looking bored, playing on her phone. Never ONCE has she ever asked “hi, how are you?” Like a normal cashier. Whenever I do ask how she is she always replies with a very flat and rude “fine”. (Doesn’t follow up with asking how I am). She is extremely rude, apathetic, doesn’t look like she cares about her job or customers at all. Oh, and I should mention that even WHILE she checks customers out, she pulls out her phone while you’re scanning your card and plays on it. Please get rid of the overweight dark haired Hispanic girl. I have no idea what her name is but if I did, I’d definitelty put it in...
Read moreAwful. Disgusting. Closed at weird times. Stock sitting out for days in the aisles. Garbage can outside the door hasn't been changed in what it looks like a week causing trash to be oozing out into the parking lot. 6/18/24 ~3:15pm... Employees goofing off and cutting up loudly behind the checkout at/in the office without doing ANYTHING to improve the place. Why is this place even in business? This place is probably not even a mile from the house but when the grocery store near Moores Mill and Chapman mountain is built I'll be stopping there on the way...
