I purchased a 1968 Cadillac DeVille from Rolling Museums in September 2023. I had a terrible experience making the purchase due to Rolling Museums having to obtain a new VIN Plate due to being rusted and no proof of VIN. Once that headache was done, the car was shipped to me to Dallas TX in October 2023.
Soon as I got the vehicle, I drove it .5 miles to the gas station, then parked in my garage. I then drove the vehicle approximately 43 miles to the Customs Shop a week later. I did not get my vehicle back in my possession until June 2024 after having much needed custom work done to the body/vehicle. Once I got the vehicle back, I drove it less than 100 miles and the engine went out on me while on the highway.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE due to the promo video posted by Rolling Museums stating verbatim: THIS CAR IS TURNKEY READY, IT GETS UP AND DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOOD AND YOU SHOUL BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT ALL SUMMER....
Well after only 150 miles the engine goes out, I reached out to Rolling Museums and they told me THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO. YES WE DID SAY TURNKEY READY AND WE'RE SHOCKED ABOUT THE ENGINE - WE AGREE THE CAR WAS NOT TURNKEY READY ... But we're not gonna assist w/the engine at all. You're in your own still....
DO NOT PROMOTE A PRODUCT FALSELY JUST TO GET A SALE!!! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!
Telling me to ship the vehicle back to you so you can have your mechanic take a look, and having me pay for not only shipping, but also all of the needed repairs is NO HELP to me.
I have evidence of YOU stating in your promo video that this car was TURNKEY READY... No matter if it was on your lot for 8 months or in a customs shop for 8 months (Not Being Driven) this car should NOT need an engine if it's TURNKEY READY. In my opinion.
ASSESSMENT OF YOUR TURNKEY ENGINE:
3 cylinders aren't moving on one side, mechanic needs to take apart other side to see it. Motor is full of thick sludge.
6 flattened cam lobes 3 cylinders not pulling in air or pushing exhaust out hat's just from the one valve cover the Mechanic took off that means there is metal shavings inside of the motor in all the bearings thick layer of black gunk inside the engine
HOW CAN YOU HELP...?? By me sending my car back to you (at my expense) and me paying for all repairs?? NOT...

This wasn’t just another car to me—it was my dream car. I ordered a private pre-purchase inspection through Lemon Squad for a 1970 Cadillac DeVille being sold by Rolling Museums, and the actual condition of the vehicle fell far short of the listing description.
While the car did start, idle, and drive reasonably well for its age, the positives ended there. Lemon Squad’s inspector uncovered multiple issues that were not disclosed—issues that would dramatically affect restoration costs and the car’s value:
AC system is non-functional—compressor doesn’t engage and requires diagnosis
Undercarriage wetness—potential leak that must be cleaned and rechecked
Interior damage—cracked dash, broken door panels, worn trim, non-working clock
Deteriorated body seals—doors, trunk, and windows need full replacement
Paint wear, scratches, and surface rust—well beyond the charm of natural patina
Driver door creaks loudly—clearly audible and never mentioned
Convertible top and chrome trim show visible wear
Even after all this, I was still prepared to go through with the purchase. I believed in the car, the restoration process, and the idea that sometimes meaning can be found in the rebuild. But when I asked for clarity and voiced my concerns, I was met with an unexpectedly aggressive and dismissive response from the manager. Instead of mutual respect, the communication turned defensive.
This Cadillac DeVille meant more to me than just transportation—it represented a chapter of accomplishment and relief, a personal milestone after years of hard work and planning. I know there are buyers out there who, like me, see these vehicles not just as collectibles but as symbols of achievement, dreams realized, or a sense of peace earned. For those buyers, beware: not every seller honors that sentiment.
If you’re a collector or restorer, get an independent inspection and don’t settle for surface impressions. Trust and transparency are what truly preserve the value of these classics—not just their chrome and...
