Excellent place to visit if passing thru this part of Texas.
I was totally surprised to see an apple orchard in this part of the country. When we arrived we saw fields of small trees and a nice little building. We went in and browsed some of the items they had for sale and were told to feel free to roam the fields and snap all the pictures we wanted.
We went out back and started walking, coming across one of the guys who prunes the trees. He started taking us on a tour, we didn't even ask. He told us about how the trees were created, a hybrid of root systems from one type of tree and the apple trees grafted onto them. So that they required less water and could survive the Texas environment.
Then he told us how they remove the bad fruit, damaged from hail, or birds, and sometimes even good fruit, because the trees are small and too many fruit can starve them. The apples grown here are small apples, not like the ones you find in grocery stores. But work great for preserves, juicing and baking.
He spoke with us a little about how the orchard ended up there. He told us about the owners, and how the bank had problems determining how to finance it, since theres no other orchards. He was very informative and all the information was extremely interesting.
Overall it was a great unplanned visit on our trip. Its a cool place to visit whether your an adult or kid. The staff was really friendly. I think they should have this guy give tours part time. Its a great stop if your on the long drive thru...

Read morePeaches were excellent!!! My daughter got married in Lubbock July of 2022 and I made pies for the reception dinner. This was the only farm I could find in the area selling peaches so I took a chance, hoping they'd have some ripe peaches. Top of Texas Farms came through! The peach pies were so full of peach flavor and were some of the best I'd ever made (or eaten)!!! Highly recommend!!! The staff were very nice, too (but these were wedding pies so it was all about...
