We were a group of 5 looking to snowmobile, most of us for the first time (3 in our group being in their 60s - 70s). I had called to inquire before booking and Natalie was extremely friendly, patient and helpful. After discussing the options of large group tour vs private, we decided to do a 2 hour private tour. We had originally planned to do a couple doubles and a single, but after discussing, the team highly recommended we try singles, which we are so glad we did.
Our guide was Cody and he was incredibly patient, friendly and informative. He went over the proper techniques and safety measures super thoroughly - we all felt incredibly safe. He would constantly check-in to make sure we all felt comfortable with the speed we were going, terrain we were exploring and making the trip exactly how we wanted (off trail vs on, stopping for photos vs more riding, etc). He was a fantastic guide and made our tour so fun and special!
The equipment was in great condition (they even had warmers for your hands built in to the handlebars) and was easy to ride.
We did a great mix of beautiful lake views with back-country forest views and got to see one of the runs from NorthStar. The trails are groomed, which makes it super easy to ride on and while there were some turns at times, we never felt in danger of going off a cliff or running into anything (or anyone else!).
The private was perfect as we were able to go at our own pace (started slower, but as we got more comfortable, were able to speed up, which was super fun!). We were also able to go to places the group tour wouldn't be able to. Our only wish was that we had more time (would definitely book a 3-4hr tour next time).
Highly recommend booking with them - incredible views, super safe, friendly and...
Read moreOverall, I wouldn’t recommend Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours especially for new riders. Took a group tour with these folks, our guide that day was Cody. Everyone in my group was new to snowmobiling, and at the end of my group's tour he directed us off the paved path, during which I had an accident and sustained injuries. The path we were navigating was very steep and narrow, situated between trees. I had no interest in going off the paved road, there wasn't enough snow on the ground, and I was trailing my group and did not even realize we were going off the path until the group was midway down. Afterwards I was told to cover the cost of the damage that resulted from a situation that I did not ask for and that overall felt pretty unsafe. I don’t know if this is a way for them to get more money out of their customers, since you just have to trust their estimate about the damage amount. If you do go with these folks, I would 1. document your snowmobile before the tour starts so they can’t claim “damage” and 2. request to stay on the path. Especially if you are a new rider it just seems like a surefire way to get injured and be charged even more money for being put in an...
Read moreThis was such a FUN experience! I couldn't stop smiling -- it's hard to do anything but smile on a snowmobile! We had excellent tour guides (Randon & Cody) who led us through an awesome tour of some gorgeous views and terrain. They were very knowledgeable and were so kind to take pics for us at every scenic spot. The machines were great and easy to operate -- I was a beginner and was super comfortable right away. The only facet of the tour I could see being an issue is if you have a mix of comfortable, faster riders with slower, nervous drivers. They have to keep the group together so that would mean more stops, etc. We had a good group of comfortable drivers so we didn't have a lot of unnecessary stops. So my recommendation might be to book a private tour if you feel like you want to let 'er...
