Family Grocery & Deli — Local services in Independence

This review is on the gas station & store, Not Hubig’s Pie’s! I stopped for gas and decided to get something to drink. As I was heading to the counter with a small Chocolate Milk, I spotted the Hubig’s pies near the counter.

As I drove off, I took my first bite of the Hubigs Pinapple pie only to get a unexpected chewy glob of something that didn't taste like pineapple. Fortunately, I keep napkins in my center console. I grabbed one and spit it out. As I checked the date it was over a month old! Hubig only allows for a week for freshness! When I got home I sent an email to Hubig’s pie concerning my experience. This location was not turning in old stock, instead keeping them for sale a month after the expiration date!

Hubig’s Pie said they would investigate the matter. They also offered me a visit to the bakery and some free pies. I told them I may take them up on the tour, but didn't need the free pies. Having grown up on Hubig’s Pies and missing them for so long after their fire, I just wanted to let them know of...

Great Hamburgers...weird service I asked to run my credit card beforehand to see if it would clear. Money problems. This place used to be amazing. It was fast, good, and good priced service. The staff were always friendly to our family, and their burgers were amazing. Unfortunately, this place has been taken over by someone new. Their service and friendliness is still top tier, but since then the food quality has gone down. Still a great place to eat and one of my favorite local restaurants. I would eat here before Chris'...
