I haven't played here in years, so it was fun to go back... My husband and I are new (again) to the area, so I wanted to bring him to a course I remembered playing when I was a kid. The course is just as beautiful as I remember playing it years ago. The ranger, Tom, was so kind and gave us tips on the course. The views are stunning with the namesake, Pioneer Creek, rolling throughout the course. The greens run smoothly, and the landscape is well maintained. Thanks again for a great round! We'll definitely be coming back for more regular rounds...

Fun place, usually pretty busy and right across the street from one of Minnesotas best Private courses. Ranger and staff were very nice, course was in pretty good shape. Links style layout with a lot of slope and rolling fairways. Wide open tee shots on every hole, yet pretty difficult approaches on some. The greens are extremely fast but not overly sloped. Lots of long grass throughout and water that comes into play. All around great round.

Fun course layout and great greens. Course was wet but still played well. Wind was tricky on some holes making them deceivingly long. Starter/marshall was a bit of a dud. Feel like their responsibility is to keep pace of play and get everyone off on a good foot. This guy suggested we go back and play 2 holes over to kill time while the groups ahead cleared up. Walkable course- no need for a cart.

This has been my first year playing at Pioneer Creek. In my opinion, this course is one of the best values for the money around. The rates are very reasonable, the course is beautiful, the greens are very well maintained, and each hole is unique...no two holes even remotely resemble any other on the course, which makes for an entertaining round of golf in my opinion. There is enough trouble, particularly water and OB, to make the course very interesting and challenging without making it too difficult even for someone of my limited abilities ( 18 hcp ). It's unfortunate that Bill below had a negative experience here as my encounters with the staff and management have been nothing but positive. Everyone has been friendly, helpful, and polite. Have I ever heard, "please pick it up a bit." when I didn't think it was warranted?....yes, but with the nation-wide focus on slow play this year and the fact that a marshal only sees a quick snapshot of your round as he/she passes through, it is understandable that periodic suggestions may not always be appropriate ( i.e. if we were searching for two lost balls on the previous hole....remember 18 hcp, it happens..., that IS going to slow us down severely on that hole, but pace quickly picks up again ). It shouldn't surprise anyone if they are reminded to pick up the pace after a rough hole. I don't think the marshals or course management should be judged too harshly as they are only trying to prevent chronic slow play, which is something we all want.....that is until we are the ones being prompted ;). All-in-all, I really enjoy this course and am surprised it is not more well known. For those who do not live on the extreme west side of the cities, it is well worth the drive to golf this course for the first time. Don't take my word for it, take a look for yourself. I'd be surprised if you were...

So we lost power this morning because of the storms that rolled through our neighborhood. This led us showing up basically 4 minutes before our tee time, we show up and the starter/ranger was immediately rude to us accosting us for being late. We go into the pro shop, we booked the time with cart and due to the rain it was walking only (which was not stated on their website the morning of) so we go hey whatever it is was it is. The starter/ranger drives up to our car and loads our bags into his cart and leaves my husband behind and drives us to the first hole. The whole drive up he’s telling me how horrible and rude we are for being late and just laying into to me while my husband is walking to the tee box way behind us. My husband gets to the tee box and he drops the tough guy act since he couldn’t bully him and just thought it was okay to bully a small woman, overall the course was in bad condition, the creek turned into a lake and the entire course was essentially flooded. I would have loved to play this course when it was in pristine conditions and I understand they can’t control the weather, but with that being said we were not offered push carts. I was verbally attacked by a man that thinks he’s more important than he is that didn’t have the gumption to say it to my husband but isolated me and bullied me in our solo cart ride to the first tee box. Overall course conditions 2/5, customer -100000/5. Will not play again. The cherry on top of all of it, we waited about 15 minutes every hole to tee off because that same tough guy didn’t enforce pace of play. If it was group of young women I’m sure he’d have...

Never going back here again. The course is completely flooded and in terrible shape. On the first hole, the small river was an entire lake. The bridge was flooded and we had to take a 5 minute walking detour to get to the green. We started at 1:48 and played 9 holes on 2.5 hour pace. The ranger was nowhere to be found to enforce place of play. Once we reached 10, ranger told us we couldn’t go off because we played too slow and the adult league was teeing off at 10. As he told us this, we were WAITING for the group in front of us to tee off. Even the adults offered to let us go. So, how is it our fault for playing slow when we were waiting on each tee box for 10 minutes. They shouldn’t have scheduled this time for 18 if the course was flooded and had all these walking detours. My friends and I drove over an hour to play 18 holes here. If we had known it was only 9, we would have saved our gas money and played somewhere better. The person at the desk said they could only refund us 9 holes and laughed at us when we told her that we drove all this way. The management of the course was not found. They know they have no idea how to run a course and were too scared to hear us out. We tried being respectful at first but the people at the desk were not...
