Brought a baby bird I found in my yard that had fell out of the nest. The girl who came out was rude . She picked it up.said it was healthy and a fledgling. I said well I didn't want my dogs to eat it. She said we recommend leash walking your dog.i said we have 14 that's not going to be possible . She rudly said " why u have 14 dogs" didn't even look at me when she said it. I said we love dogs . She said do u know where the nest is. I said no . It's up in the tree somewhere. Finally I said is there a problem? She said well we recommend putting it back in its nest because it'll have more of a chance that way than here and I said well I can't climb a tree. Our trees are like 30 ft tall and I don't know what nest it fell out of so I can't climb a tree. I said. I'm sorry. I said I didn't want my dog to eat it either. She said well, I'll take it inside and fill out that card. I'll be right back. First of all, it's none of her business How many dogs I have. Second of all I can't help I can't climb a tree and I don't know what nest to put the bird in. I could have left it on the ground like some people would have and let my dog eat it. But I think I was being a pretty good person driving all the way over there to bring them the bird. I think it has more of a chance with them than it would on the ground here. When she came back out she told me to wait 24 hours before a call in and then she said we y all stay safe. Have a good day. I didn't even respond, I just got in the car and left. I mean worst experience and I think that I've brought something to them before and she's...
Read moreImpressed by the willingness of this animal rescue to accommodate all types of animals/reptiles/amphibians/etc. I live in Augusta, GA and had come across a litter of baby rattlesnakes left in a bucket in a populated area late on Labor Day weekend. They were in poor health.
I couldn't release them in my neighborhood due to lack of community public areas and so many children in the large neighborhood. I also didn't want to take them to the lake area due to it being a holiday weekend filled with more people than usual. I couldn't find a refugee place nearby, at least one that was open.
After a recommendation from a friend who is in the wildlife refuge business (but too far to go to her), and her calling Carolina Wildlife, they gladly told us to bring them there. We arrived a short time later and the staff immediately put the snakes into a proper environment and began caring for them.
The only issue we had was finding the entrance/driveway off of Bush River Rd. because of the small sign and GPS not being exact. However, it is directly across from Wescott Rd. I've included a picture...
Read moreIt was well after 9p.m. and we had an emergency with a Canadian Gosling. I bandaged the gosling to keep it from bleeding. It's leg was either dislocated or broken from a Tom cat attack. My 12 yr old daughter caught the bird and brought it to me. How she got away from the mother is amazing. She was so worried about our feathered friend. At Cedar Pond Campground we get at least 40 to 50 gosling's. Every year we have an incident with these gracious birds. I drove 35 minutes to Carolina Wildlife Care (CWC) not expecting someone to be available. A volunteer was available to my surprise and took the gosling right away. These folks always do a great job and keep u informed about the situation of the animal. Thank you all for everything you've done for us. Normally if is something simple I care for the animal and return it to the wild. When it's something serious I cant fix, I automatically bring it to you all. Again thank you for everything you do to help all the wild animals. I have a heart and all of my children have followed in my footprints with...
