The Residence at Marina Bay — Local services in Irmo

Very nice location. Apartments have a good layout with updated appliances. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They do a lot of community events, and there are always people to chat with at the firepit at night. Very dog friendly community as well.

The only issue you will have, is that it is like living in college dorms as far as the noise goes. You will always hear people talking through walls and the ceiling. You'll always hear music coming from outside in the courtyard (maybe the pool has music during the day?) Your TV and radio will need to be turned up higher than usual to make up for the thin walls. I assumed this before I moved in, so no complaints on my end, just figured some of you may want the heads up.

You can hear your neighbors talking through the walls day and night. I think they only have a firewall on 1 side of the apartments, because our bedroom walls definately have a thin wall between them. This has made for some awkward late nights for me, but hey, good for them I guess! Haven't met them yet, but I know their top 3 pandora stations, their choice of alcoholic beverage, and a few other random facts I wish I didn't know, but I do. All because the wall is so thin.

You'll hear the plumbing and toilets flushing if you have someone living above you, along with their footsteps if they don't walk soft or like a normal person.

This community is anything but luxury. There are so many issues including parking, adults smoking IN the pool, upkeep of the grounds, fire alarms regularly going off. They advertise the pool as heated but will not turn on the heaters because it costs too much. They tell me there is a no smoking rule for the pool area; however, they tell others it is okay to smoke in the pool. The amenities are not easy to use. The theater is locked, so we went to the office to let them know we plan on using it. They okayed it, and when we got there, it was locked; the office was closed. We called security.....they never opened the door for us. Pool sticks are not available anymore for use with the pool table. We're paying a pretty high rent with little benefit. I moved into this community one week ago. From the initial tour with Logan, the application process, the “Welcome Home” email, the first day moving in, initial Maintenance request, everything has been done with a Spirit of Excellence. McKenzie was also just as sweet. On Sunday; there was an Oyster Roast and Low Country Boil at the Fire Pit. I met several neighbors. Very Diverse and Friendly. Marina Bay has exceeded my expectations of Maintenance Free Living. I moved into a very spacious 2 bedroom. All appliances are up to date. Countertops are amazing. My balcony overlooks the pool and fire pit. I have seen several comments about the noise. I will admit; that while this is true, it is not unbearable. Then there is the view. Simply breathtaking.
