Best experience ever! I've lived in Southeast Idaho my entire life and have never been to the Yellowstone Playhouse, even in it's previous life at Mack's Inn. My wife and friend group have been raving about it, as they are frequent patrons, so we finally put together a date night and made the trip. First off, the ticket prices were very reasonable. Other reviews have said they were expensive, but we paid $86 for two tickets and thought that was a real value, considering there was free parking, great meal and a show! Compare this to two movie tickets ($20 at the cheap theater), plus dinner ($40-60) and you're well ahead of the game! We heard that you should arrive early so you can take your time eating. We arrived at 5pm for a 6pm dinner time and had pleasant chats with the other patrons waiting in line for the doors to open. That time of night in that area, the weather was pleasant and there were no issues waiting outside for the doors to open. I will say, by the time the doors opened at 6pm the line was quite long so we were glad we arrived early and didn't have to wait. Dinner started promptly at 6pm and was amazing! We had the prime rib, baked potatoes, beans, corn, roll and side salad. The meat portions were excellent and filled over half the plate. The flavor and doneness were excellent. The rest of the meal was well done and high quality and obvious care had been taken in it's preparation. I honestly don't know what they could have done better on the meal, other than perhaps additional drink options? Water and lemonade are standard with dinner, but you can purchase other options at the concessions stand at additional cost. Not sure why you would want to purchase anything extra, as we took home enough leftover dinner for two additional meals! Again, amazing portion sizes! On to the show.... We saw Back to the Future. As a BTTF nerd (one of my favorite movie series) I was honestly a little pessimistic that they would do the movie's justice. I was so pleasantly surprised! Seriously, the play loosely follows the first BTTF movie, with some creative liberties taken. There were a LOT of pop culture references, jokes reflective of the local culture and religion (Mormons, Idaho and Utah in general), as well as individual yuks directed at specific audience members (like the lady in the front who left for intermission early). All in good fun though! The show is very family friendly, and even so I was rolling the entire time. I seriously couldn't stop smiling even after we left, as I felt like I had made a bunch of new friends with the cast. They did an exceptional job at bringing this show to life and I can't say enough positive about it. Even though the 2023 season is almost over, we are already making plans to see all of the 2024 shows. I can't believe I didn't know about this little gem before, but now that I do, I'm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo start off, my husband and I loved this dinner and show. We were fortunate to go since our friends had some free tickets for us (such cool homies right?)!
Rules: cry room (perfect for those who have a fussy baby, but still want to enjoy the show. I know I appreciated it!) intermission snacks honoring the military or military families (I really appreciate this, coming from a military brat herself)
Food: Delicious, best prime rib I've ever had! Literally MELTED in our mouths! The rolls.. man I would kill to get more of those.. I'm serious. And everything was nice and warm! Intermission snacks were not needed since we were full (able to take home leftovers) but that didn't stop us from wanting them so we got 'em! Popcorn was fresh and buttery, cotton candy fueled my inner child and the chocolate milk ice cream float was rich and creamy!
Show: A wonderful blend of originality, talent, and working the crowd flowed beautifully to create a show I'd come back to! I just wish it was closer to Rexburg so we would have a better excuse to go! We sat in the back, but we were able to see and heat perfectly fine! Hardest thing was the chairs, but I could deal with that myself since that's my problem, not theirs.
Intermission: Drew filled the empty space when it wasn't needed, but was pleasant for sure!! My husband and I were called on (since we were celebrating our anniversary) and were able to give a "little" show of our own, but we're promptly one-uped rightfully by the other 12 year celebrating couple. Loved it!!
Service: Quick to help and they were always going around to make sure everyone was happy! Some familiar faces from workers surprisingly showed up on stage and it really shows how much they care for their audience.
Recommending this to everyone and will remember it for a lifetime! Thanks for the awesome...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is one of those experiences where you just somehow end up in the situation and then later come to realize that it was something beyond what you were expecting! My Girlfriend had acquired tickets for us to attend and even picked out the specific show, they typically have three different productions that they put on each season alternating them each night of the week. She had chosen the spoof on Peter Pan for us. I must admit that with all things considered, I had relatively low interest and therefore enthusiasm about going. This was during the Summer of 2020 with all the Covid-19 pandemic stuff going on and facemasks and social distancing etc. were being required and then we discovered that the dinner, which we were told by friends, was a definite highlight of the whole experience and is usually offered as part of the show package, had also been cancelled due to virus related concerns, all of which just kept adding up to put a damper on my expectations for the evening. But the reality of it was, that from the very moment that the Host took possession of the stage, I was immediately captivated, found myself laughing and smiling until my cheeks were screaming for relief! We were both completely entertained and impressed! Even with all the pandemic additives in place! The work, the effort, the energy, the service, the attitudes of the actors, who also double as servers for snacks and things before the show as well during the intermission, was all just amazing!! We were both VERY impressed. Thankful that we went and have been raving about it to anyone looking for something to do here in Island Park ever since! If you are here and looking for things-to-do, or planning your upcoming trip to the area, I highly recommend that you add this to your list! You...
