Our whole family (9 of us) rented 2 cabins, 1 cottage and 1 deluxe. Well, the deluxe shocked us as it was so tiny! One very small room held the bunkbeds, doublebed (which the corner was sticking out and injured a couple of us before we had a chance to cover it), a small sink, mini fridge (which was dirty inside) and a small bathroom with shower. This was not a big deal, since the majority of our time was spent at the cottage (right next door) and this was just for sleeping. We would have gotten the Bear Bone cabin, but wanted the a/c.
The Cottage was better, had one room with a pull out futon, small table with 4 chairs, basic kitchen items (gas stove/oven, full size fridge/freezer, sink, many cabinets and drawers.) When we tried to fill the coffee pot, we realized the water seemed to leave extra bubbles in the pot...we tried rinsing it out and filling again, still had "bubbles" ???? We decided not to use tap water for any drinking! We brought plenty of bottled water luckily. There were sliding doors for all the doorways, and they all either stuck or didn't lock. The bunk beds were in the hallway and had a small closet that was I think over a foot back into the wall between the beds and wall. Hard to explain, but let's say this, it was such a tight squeeze, unless you were a toothpick, you weren't fitting back there to put away your stuff. Main bedroom had a double bed with box spring and regular mattress, and a "closet" on each side that had a couple small drawers underneath. There were also cabinets above the bed, but they were high up and really at an awkward position so they're not very usable unless you stood on the bed. Now, closets are great, but we didn't think to bring hangers....so we pretty much lived out of the suitcases. Now we know we're in the woods, but seeing 2 cockroaches in the back bedroom didn't exactly make us happy.
The outside area of the cabin was nice, large porch with 2 chairs, fire pit with 2 more chairs and a long picnic table. The firewood they sold were, I think, $6 a bundle and they were cut so small, they wouldn't have lasted long in the fire. We'd probably have needed 3 bundles to cook for all 9 of us for one meal. We were lucky to find firewood around town a bit, either the side of the road or at a gas station toward the beach.
Also on their website, they said they have free wi-fi (we could barely get a signal if at all anywhere on our campsite) and a dunktank that didn't look like it had been used at all recently. Was it broken? That was a bummer. The pool was nice, clean and mostly empty when we were there Sunday afternoon, but in the middle of us playing, some employees came out and started adding calcium powder to the pool..just sprinkling it in all over at the edges. Well, I don't know if that's safe or not, but even if it is, can't that wait until people are NOT using it? It didn't make us feel all that comfortable about it.
We did not check out the arcade or mini golf. The store was cute (overpriced, but that's expected.) Staff were mostly friendly and helpful.
The whole thing was ok, but just ok. Some things better, some worse. We enjoyed camping near the beach, but probably won't choose this...
Read moreWriting this from my home on 8 Sept 2020. Left the campground early. Inconsistent and rude treatment.
Recently purchased a camper, booked 3 days here with my girlfriend. Last week, in person was told we could have 1 vehicle on the site, with 6 guests maximum (I distinctly mentioned my 2 registered and 6 guests, around the campfire) Arrived solo and started set up without incident. Daughter and her husband joined and registered at $15 each as guests. While helping me set up they were parked next to me on the site unloading. A represent of the campground immediately hassled us about one vehicle per site. So we moved one. My girlfriend was still working, and due to arrive soon. When I got the call she was at the gate, I drove my truck outside and parked it.using my gate pass on her vehicle to drive thru we stopped at the office (was accused of trying to smuggle people in) and registered her and my other daughter. Now we have 5 total. Was told we are good, so went to the site. My son called, went to the office and registered His guest registration was $8, not the $15 his sister was... also another couple in office was denied entry of a guest due to FOUR PEOPLE maximum on site..... when my son arrived we stopped in the office and provided his vehicle info. Did not specifically add his wife since the individual at the counter just denied another couple.. parked his truck and with 7 total around the campfire, all blood family and spouse's. Gentleman pulls up with a golf cart and very rude commented that son's wife who was not registered had to leave immediately. Now. Not after eating a burger. Now. Comments about 4 maximum per site. Keep in mind, numerous other sites have 15 or more people onsite.. but since they are seasonal renters that must be ok? Likewise they can have multiple vehicles on each site? Told him why I didn't register one person which was cleared to join us verbally a few days prior, but with the office person denied another couple, did not want the hassle. He didn't allow me to register on the spot, insisted she leave NOW. I Pointed out that if we are forced to leave I would ensure every site have a full count, the gentleman decided to let me register the next day.
I left the campground early and will not be back. Absolute discrimination that I have a tow behind, and only booked one weekend not a seasonal renter with a...
Read moreI had family in from out of state from June 30th to July 7th. The simplest way to do it was to put them up in a campground in my camper. Butterfly Campground was close, looked good and had a lot of things for the kids to do. When I checked in with the camper, The page of rules that I was given stated that there is a $6.00 per person charge for visitors. I asked the girl working at the desk if that was going to be inforced because "the only thing in the campground I was going to use was the driveway" She called an older woman out from the back, who I explained what was going on, and was told "That is the Rules!" At that point I decided that this would be the one and only time that I used this campground, thanked the girl at the desk, and went to the site. As I started to set up, an older man came into the site, not introducing himself, shouting that if I had a problem with the rules that I should leave now and he would refund my money! I assured him that I would follow all the rules. He then told me that the girl in the office was crying, that I had upset her so bad. When I had first walked into the office she was dealing with another customer who had reserved a cabin the night before, their computer had crashed the night before, and in the morning they had rented the cabin out again. The girl was trying her best to deal with re-entering the data into the computer, dealing with the customer who had paied for a cabin they said he couldn't have, and the owners who were on site not helping. I don't think that I am the one that put her over the edge, I was nothing but polite and thanked her on the way out. There were no activitys scheduled for the 4th of July, the pool closed at 6:00pm according to their rules (actully stayed open till around 8:00) There was little else for the kids to do. We followed the rules and spent time together at my house and not there. On principle alone, after I spent $350.00 for the week at their campground, and they want $6.00 per person just to visit, There will be many more friends and family coming from out of state to visit, THEY WILL NOT STAY HERE. I did notice that for a holiday week, when most campgrounds are at capacity, they had lots of empty...
