Glory's is just fine, but trashy.
They have a great butcher and most of the produce I need to stop off for after work. Their prices are a little higher than a super market, but that's to be expected for a small, independent store.
I say they are trashy for two reasons. First, during hurricane Sandy they did some price gouging, which isn't cool. They charged exorbitant prices for basic necessities. The practice makes sense economically but when the power is out and you need water it's not great.
Also, a friend of mine worked at their deli counter for a bit. I'm unclear on all the details of the story, but the gist is he dropped a deli ham, the big chunk of meat they send through the slicer, on the floor. He rightly threw it away. A female manager didn't approve of that so she took the ham from the trash, rinsed it in the sink, and returned it to the cabinet.
I still go there, and I still order their subs because they are delicious. Your standards might be higher than mine, though, so I thought you should know.
Edit: never buy the meat on daily special unless you like hugging your toilet
Edit2: the staff is super unfriendly, but are you trying to buy hot dog buns or are you trying to...
Read moreIt's a dinky little hole - in - the - wall place; basically a butcher shop with a produce and grocery section. There is a liquor store separated by a dividing wall. The quality of the prepared foods is high. The grocery selection is understandably very limited as they have very little space. But its proximity to Rt. 195 gives it the on - the - way - home "Oops, I better pick up some bread, milk, toilet paper and something for dinner" advantage. I'd have given it five stars but the last time I was there the lady checking me out was missing a personality. I love dinky little hole - in - the - wall places and even the more so when the staff is friendly and chatty. "Local charm" they call that". Let's work on...
Read moreMy family has been buying meats and cold cuts from this establishment since I was a kid. I can confidently say some of the best burgers I have ever ate have come from this store! Its as much of a staple to Jackson as the Municipal Complex itself! I will certainly miss it when it is gone, so many good memories of picking up subs prior to a class trip when I was in grade school, as well as buying lunch later in life when I worked at Goetz Middle School. After all these years they are still the best around, glad I only live down the...
