Nice course BUT...we got caught in a downpour which there was no way to play. The weather didn't indicate a thunderstorm coming in. We were on the 4th hole when we had to quit, along with several others who were on the course. The man at the desk said he would give us a rain check. Fine. Then he gave us a rain check for the remaining 14 holes!! I have never been to a golf course that did that! When you only get 4 holes in, the staff want you to come back, and always give a rain check for the full 18 holes. Who is going to come back and start on the 5th hole! Not only that, he deleted the whole first transaction and took another 15 minutes to 20 minutes to give us the 14 holes! I wasn't aware what was going on or I would have gotten credit and played somewhere else. He apologized but was rude at the same time. We did come back the next day, as we were camping in the area and live 2 hours away. We had to pay another $24.00 to replay the first 4 holes! HOW WRONG IS THIS!!!!! This was a nice course, but the mannerism of this man and having to pay more money drops my opinion of this course...
Read moreI was in the Cape Girardeau/Jackson area for a few days and wanted to play a round of golf. I went online and found Bent Creek in Jackson and am glad I did. This is one of the most beautiful public courses I've ever played. Perfectly maintained, with flowers on every tee box. Not that flowers makes the golf better but it really shows the attention to detail the course puts into keeping the place up and making it look good.
There are 5 sets of tees. The course plays just over 6,000 yards from the middle (white) tees, which is where I played from. I showed up by myself and asked the pro shop to add me to a group so I wouldn't have to play alone. I was lucky enough to be put with a course marshall and his son, so they knew the course very well.
The course is challenging but not overly so. There are no unfair holes. Most of the par 3 holes play fairly long ... 160 to 180+ yards, so no short 100 yard par 3s. Lots of rolling hills, but no big doglegs. Wide open layout so swing away!
I absolutely loved it and hope to play it again next time I'm back...
Read moreIm disappointed in the way the club treats people that want to have a fun time. While with a party of 4, we were contacted by the owner or course marshal (one of the two, not sure which) about the fact that we had been holding up other golfers. Now to be quite frank, weve all played golf before so we knew the rules and etiquette of the course, and were happy to let other play through when we were going at a slower pace since we are not pro golfers. We are just 4 friends who wanted to play a round of golf and have a good time doing it. I know this isnt the clubs fault necessarily, however the way the message was delivered wasnt very friendly, and we felt rushed the rest of the round. I will say that the folks working in the clubhouse were very kind and professional, so that is the only reason why this isnt a flat out 1 star rating. To sum it up, if you want to feel belittled and rushed, and not have a very fun time, then this is the course for you. As for me, i most likely will not return to this course for a "fun...
