This course is the best value golf course in the Jackson metro area. In the spring of 2025 they have put a lot of effort into improving the fairways, greens, and tee boxes. It also has a great full length driving range that has concrete hitting bays with artificial turf mats and a roof, as well as a grass range area.
This course is in mostly flat terrain with fairly high clay content soils so it does retain water with heavy rains and can be a bit soggy or even muddy at times in some areas, but that clay content also means it can get very firm during dry times and your drives will roll an extra 30+ yards. The back nine has a bit more elevation change than the front with several holes where a good drive can crest a rise and then roll much further than you would expect during dry times.
It has 4 par threes, 10 par fours, and 4 par fives. Most of the par 3’s are relatively long with one shorter one, several par fours are short and several are pretty long, and two of the par fives are short. So the statistically harder holes (par 3’s) can be fairly hard while the statistically easier holes (par 5’s) can be gettable in two and are not very difficult to find yourself with Eagle putts and short birdie opportunities. It is a playable layout that is teed from 6631 at the tips to 4917 at the forward tees.
There is NO POA GRASS ON ANY GREEN! (June 2025) Two of the greens still need a bit of work but they’re too close to trees and get too shaded, and they are working on getting them better filled in. But the rest of them are in surprisingly great condition for the price. They roll true, and are fairly fast until it gets way too hot and they have to let them grow a bit taller and even then they still roll true and aren’t slow, just not as fast. Also the greens are medium to small size by current standards. It’s a 1960’s championship style layout. So it has some reasonably sized, almost large, greens and a few surprisingly small ones.
For only $18 to walk 18 holes with no POA grass to knock your ball off line on any green, it really can’t be beat if you’re just interested in playing golf. There is no beverage cart service and of course, at that price, they don’t have bunkers but the course does defend itself with low hanging branches in places so there are still challenges to be had.
In short, it’s a full length, playable course where you can make some eagles, roll true putts with no POA and very few bare spots to worry about, hit extra long drives in dry times, not have to worry about sand if you don’t like bunkers, and meet some cool people all for only $18 or less than $30 with a cart. The pic is...
Read moreIt's not a bad little course for the price. I'm here for work, and seeing is how every other course in Jackson I called required a membership. This place was great. Does it need some maintenance and grounds work, sure. But if you're looking for a cheap, easy course just to work on your swing and have some fun, this place is not terrible. 4/5 only because it's in desperate need...
Read moreWe went with Isaiah to the driving range. It was nice with a covered overhang for shade. Grass mats were there to practice with irons. And, just forward was sandy grass to practice with drivers. It was a sunny light windy day. My wife and daughters each hit a few golf balls and decided it wasn't going to be their sport. Better left to those with...
