Beware! This company appears to have no policy of honoring its own warranty. If you get a working product, count yourself lucky. They sold me a laptop that was dead on arrival and refused to provide an identical replacement or repair, which is directly against their terms of warranty (which clearly covers parts and labor). Their business model seems to hinge on selling used laptops with a "Microsoft authorized refurbisher" sticker on it without any regard to whether the product actually works or not.
Update: Because I have no way of responding to the owner's response below, I've updated my review. The warranty page mentions that defective laptops are eligible for repair (and they specifically mention that parts and labor are covered) - yet they would write an email to me saying that the warranty DOES NOT cover repairs. If this isn't false advertising, what else can it be? Getting a refund for the purchase amount was not a preferred option as I clearly wrote in an email. If that was the sole workable option, please do not advertise a 1 year "warranty" - to any reasonable person, this seems deceptive.
As to WHY the shipped laptop wouldn't work, I cannot answer to that nor is it worth speculating about; that isn't even the issue at hand. The only issue here is one of the advertised warranty.
Getting a refund for the purchase price (which is a given in this case, since the laptop doesn't even turn on) isn't quite the same as being able to use the warranty for the sold product that purports to help restore the sold product to a working condition either through a repair or replacement. Hopefully that clears any questions on my position. Have a great weekend.
Update July 3, 2024: I'm writing this because the company chose to update its review after nearly 2 months after I posted the above. I understand that the company didn't have the parts to honor the warranty - that is precisely the issue at hand. If the company isn't bothered to maintain stock on parts that are readily available elsewhere on the market, even at around the time of delivery, or even provide a time estimate on availability, why even advertise a warranty? It doesn't change my opinion that the advertisement was deceptive here.
Refunding the purchase price on a product that was dead on arrival right out of the box isn't some extraordinary professional gesture, it is just standard business practice that is required by law and Walmart policy (which was the marketplace for this transaction); it would be at best, a breach of contract, and fraud at worst if they...
Read moreThis company is worse than a politician on Super Tuesday. Let me preface this by saying Discount Computer is absolute TRASH. Allow me to explain further. If you make an order via EBAY be careful because that's the epicenter of the "shady" business practices aka Scam (allegedly). My wife bought a computer for our son for Christmas and we thought it would be great considering all the warranties and assurances you get from eBay. All those assurances are lies. We received a refurbished computer which didn't display a picture on the monitor. Discount Computer Depot's response was that we don't know how to wire a monitor and we should troubleshoot. 1st of all, I've been using computers since Sega Genesis was the game console of choice. 2nd, my wife works in IT. 3rd, I know how to hook up a monitor. After we realized Discount Computer Depot was going to be of no help, we filed an insurance claim through Allstate (3rd party warranty company via ebay). Guess what, the claim was denied because the computer came broken and unusable by the manufacturer Discount Computer Depot. We then noticed that Discount Computer Depot canceled our return in ebay's platform. So, I'm going to say it again, Discount Computer Depot is ABSOLUTE TRASH! If you need a computer, save your money and don't buy a refurbished one from these conartist computer corner hookers. I noticed they're leaving comments under other reviews to contact their customer service but we already did that so leave my ding a ling a response Discount Computer Depot. Discount Computer Depots customer service is the most useless waste of electricity, use of my hand to throw my phone, and the most useless group of stoner scammers I've ever come across. ABSOLUTELY a waste of company space! Also, I wouldn't have left a review if I would have received a replacement computer or my money. At this point, I want my money and this review to be at the top of the review list. People need to be careful buying from them on EBAY. The accounts saying positive things on their site is not true and I'm under the impression they create accounts to leave reviews like a sound cloud rapper trying to get clout (Allegedly). DO not trust these SNAKES!!!! Also, I said their full name (Discount Computer Depot) as many times as possible so when anyone looks up a review, they get...
Read moreI appreciate the opportunity of getting a discount pricing on computers albeit obsolete ones and getting them to you. That is what it is. The ordering experience and the delivery of one went well.
But it's the customer service that really went South afterwards which was greatly annoying. Buyer beware.
They were responsive to a point, even remoting in to my machine which I received with a bad audio problem. I appreciated their communicative initial first contacts. They decided to RMA it, but did not replace the machine I ordered for the exact same one. I ordered a full size tower refurb and sent me instead a smaller desktop version.
I had a data hard drive I wanted to stick in the tower and could not in the new one and they refused to honor my request to get me the tower I ordered in the RMA. The last contacts I had with customer service over that were bizarre beyond belief. They even had me send pictures of what I received and kept telling me they couldn't send me that because according to "their records" I was sent a tower with the RMA shipment.
I had work to get done and didn't have time to fool with this any longer and agreed to keep it and ended up having to buy an external drive case and power supply to make my old drive work. I'm still not happy with what happened. The only way they could have made this right was to kept the promise that the tech who worked on the bad audio made and that they would send me the exactly what I had ordered in return. They refused to do so. Surprises like this are unpleasant and never should...
