Dollar General — Local services in Jamesville

The good first. It's one of the neatest most organized Dollar generals I've ever been in. Now the story ends there for the good.

For the past 4 months two or three times a month I have asked the nice lady named Ray to give me the veterans discount their company advertises for on the second Wednesday of every month.

Every time I go in the store I ask has it been rectified and I get the same story that I've talked to my manager and I've talked to the district manager and it's falling on deaf ears.

I will be going on the veterans websites and the places that advertise people who give discounts to veterans and tell of Dollar general's practices.

She told me she has talked to her manager she has talked to the district manager and all of them seem clueless or do not care to do anything about it. I pulled up the website policy on the veterans discount and showed Ray. She said that she also showed her manager and district manager the same thing. I go in there today and she still has no idea on how to get it to work because her managers are ignoring the issue.

Usually, this Dollar General is great, but I had a disappointing experience today. An elderly cashier seemed annoyed from the start, which caught me off guard. As a business owner myself, I believe you should welcome customers, so I tried to be extra polite to lighten the mood.

Things escalated when I handed her a $5 off coupon after she’d started ringing me up. She sighed and said rudely, “You’re supposed to give me this before I ring you up.” I didn’t know the process, and her tone felt uncalled for. After re-ringing my items, she walked away while I was scanning my card, leaving my bagged items on the carousel closest to her. I had to rotate it myself to grab my stuff, which felt like another passive-aggressive move.

Despite my efforts to stay polite, her attitude left me frustrated. I hope this feedback can help improve customer service...

If you can shop anywhere else before getting to Jamesville do it. This store closes 2 hours early most nights and closes randomly through out the day. Today it was closed at 6:40 when I stopped in to get somethings on my way home from work. There are always boxes blocking the aisle. The store is small and cramped as it is then they fill the limited amount of walking space with boxes. They are always understaffed due to overworked and under paid. When they do get good people in there they run them off by working them to death. The people are nice enough but the store is poorly ran. I do not know if this is the fault of the manger, the owners, or someone in between. But somebody needs to do better. It is a shame because it is so close to my home but you never know if they...
