Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport — Local services in Janesville

Arrived at Janesville and called out 10 miles..... and I got a reply "OK". Got 7 miles out, and again called, received another "OK". Kept going to 5 miles out, made the call, and another "OK". Can't enter the airspace, so I made a quick left turn, figured he was to busy or confused. He calls out my tail number and says "What do you want to do?" OMG! I forgot to say full stop! So I said I wanted to land! WTHeck? Is he there to correct my calls and nearly have me divert or just head back? I'm new at this, so I'm going to make mistakes, but why put me in a dangerous situation? 6 AUG 2025 around...
