This takes the number one spot for the best seen falls! It is located behind a house rental retreat called The Retreat. This is one of the best falls I have been to in the area. It feels like you are in a cave when standing in front of the falls because the mountain walls are all around you except from behind you. So when you look up you see the sky with the walls surrounding you giving you the feeling like you are enclosed. This fall drops straight down in a pool area below it. If you park at the small play park next to the road coming into The Retreat, you would walk straight back that looks like a short driveway. There is a house on the left with a Private Property sign in the yard near the driveway you will walk. Go straight past that sign to the left a little behind the private property about 15 steps. You will see the trail there. Go to the left on the trail that goes down to the falls. Only about 15 min. to get to the falls. The railing near the falls with steel cables on it will be needed to hang onto as you go down and climb back up from the falls because it is steep in spots. And very slippery on the ground in spots after...

I stayed at the Toasted Marshmallow over the last couple days, and I loved it! It had everything you needed for a very enjoyable stay. They were doing a little bit of construction while I was there, bringing in more tiny homes, but I think they waited until after 8:00am before they started. Although they do have a couple hiking trails, I did not choose to hike them. Instead, I went to a nearby park and hiked the Fiery Gizzard Trail, which was awesome! They have community areas where you can sit around a fire pit or have a large meal, but I didn't really notice a lot of people hanging out there in the evenings. I think the Deer Lick location is still fairly new, so that's why they're still bringing in homes and there's not a lot of permanent residents there yet. Each tiny home has its own fire pit, and the one I stayed at had a screened in porch with two decks and a porch swing. It was very relaxing and I'll definitely be back. I took two videos of the inside and outside of the Toasted Marshmallow. I'll try to get them posted to YouTube in the...

Second visit to The Retreat at Deer Lick Falls stayed in The Leprachaun tiny house. Kudos to the housekeeping staff. Our site was spotless. Lacy has always been so helpful during the rental process. The trail on the preserve surrounding the property makes for a great relaxing hike. Deer Lick Falls is beautiful but did get a little tricky. I suggest wearing good shoes. Minutes away from hiking in South Cumberland State Park and dining. The only things that might be helpful would be to have instructions on operating the heating and air system, fireplace, and TV. We enjoyed the outside fire pit. Luckily we are campers and brought firestarters with us. The wood at our fire pit needed to be split in smaller pieces otherwise it would have been impossible to start a fire. Had friends in another tiny house and used their fire pit. The propane deck fire pit ran out of gas but we enjoyed it one night while it lasted. Highly recommend The Retreat at...

Great semi-secluded development, well designed tiny homes, and nearby nature hikes including the falls. We stayed at The Goat House, but it really didn't meet our expectations. Heating unit was waiting on a warranty repair (not good for temps in the teens). Property management did provide some small space heaters. Cockroaches. I get it, we are in the middle of the nature and there will be bugs. Carbon monoxide alarm went off when using the oven, so you have to be careful in how much you cook inside. Would love to give this place 5 starts, but for the same price point as a cabin in the smokies...I'd probably just go there next time.
