Cody and I love supporting local businesses and have been looking into switching from ButcherBox to a local farmer/butcher to buy our meats from - Heritage Breeds were important to us, knowing they had a good life before being killed. After searching for a while, we came across this farm in Burgettstown called Birch Creek Farmery. They sustainably raise ONLY heritage breeds for premium meats. We were already sold but saw they offered tours & since I LOVE animals, I thought why not learn more about them and sample their meats before buying a ton. Teddi, the daughter of the farm, met with us for the tour and we did a 1.5 mile walk about their main acreage. They own 1400 acres total which blew my mind! Anyway, she told us all about the process and that they drive 2 hours out of the way to have their animals butchered because it was the only one that properly handled them until the very end, avoiding them being scared, knowing they were about to die, etc. They care so much about their animals that they’ve actually cried after dropping them off. On the tour, I could see how trusting and loved the animals felt towards the family and vice versa. I could see how happy they are, all of them have names and come right up to you! I’ve never experienced anything like that on a farm. I’m writing all of this because they 100% deserve the recognition! Who wouldn’t want to know the meat they’re eating lived a happy life?

I can’t recommend this place high enough. Delicious meat raised by folks who are really passionate about quality and the animals they raise. Pork products are next level. I’m not much of a cook, but meat from this farm makes me look like I know what I’m doing. I’ve never had a bad experience at Birch Creek Farmery.

Good meat. Just non responsive. Thought I found a place to consistently get beef from but can’t get a response anymore. I was told to just keep reaching out but I don’t want to beg for beef.

Edit: I actually came back to update the review and give three stars instead of one because the meat is good. When it comes to picking up the meat I was ignored more than once and then you text me two minutes after I gave a star review. Obviously that was the only reason you reached out. I literally just wanted to pick up meat, it could’ve been sat out and I could’ve paid through email. But whenever I pick it up, I would sit there for 30 minutes plus waiting patiently not saying a thing. To see that I got a response saying that it’s my fault and that it was even accommodated to fit my schedule is ridiculous. For over a month I was saying, I wanted a half cow and kept being told to come back at a different time or given a date to reach out with no response. So to see you respond and say that I didn’t respond it’s baffling. I literally have the text on my phone not counting...

The absolute cleanest and most humane farm you could possibly come across. I encourage everyone to research the American meat industry and see what horrors usually take place on large-scale corporate ran farms and then compare it to the work being done at Birch Creek Farmery. The Maslowski family works quite literally all day (and often night) to ensure that the animals are healthy and in a state that will provide customers with the highest quality products. In addition to providing the BEST AND HIGHEST QUALITY products, Birch Creek avoids waste, works with neighboring farmers, and spends time helping those in need through fundraisers, giveaways, etc. Waking up every two hours to feed a sick piglet or comforting a cow who lost her calf are things that just don’t normally occur in commercial agriculture. However, this kind of thing occurs everyday at Birch Creek Farmery. Between the great products, sustainable practices, and humane beliefs of the company, there is really no other option other than Birch...
