First time visit to Koziar's Christmas Villiage. Ample parking for hundreds of cars, once at the entrance it's fast & easy to get in. They keep the flow of traffic going once inside. Be prepared to wait while in line for quite some time. We waited about 15 mins on the 2 lane road to enter. It is breathtaking to see all the lights once you come down the hill to the entrance. You can bring your children's wagons or carts to pull them through along w strollers. Be sure to bring your fluffy warm coats & blankets as most people come prepared to be in the cold for an average of 1 hour or longer walking through the light maze & enjoying a few stops to shop at hat shop & tree decorating shops & drink/snack shack. There are Porta potties while waiting in line to get in as well as working restroom in the center area. They have spent over 75 years making this place a wonderful walkthrough "Walkabout" for any age. The displays are clean freshly painted & updated & lights work. They have working mini railroads w acrotve trains going around the mini town displays. A mini lake w holiday banner of greetings. Every turn has a mini house or regular house displayed all throughout this original family farm. They have displays from when your parents were a kid, from when we were kids & a few modern ones too. You can show your kids what Christmas spirit looked like when you were young and continue the tradition. They literally cover EVERY Era every interest for kids from peanuts Charlie brown to dinosaurs, cowboys & Indians, cartoons and carolers. They have storybook wooden cut out story boards to read out loud & share your favorite Christmas stories while walking along with your children. Lots of photo opportunities for adults & children. Christmas music and Christmas treats. Babies, kids and big kids will enjoy all the lights & displays. There is handicapped parking as well as you can pull right up to entrance & drop off if you have wheelchairs, strollers and need to access the paved walkways immediately. I do not recommend trying to struggle wheeling through thick graveled parking lot areas...use drop off entrance paved area. Paid $18 for each adult & $16 each child as it was a ($5) prime night add on ticket to go on weekend nights so check online before going & military discounts and group discounts too. Prices are cheaper on weeknights. Check out their website first. Thus was an absolutely lovely Walkabout activity for multigeneration family to enjoy & watch entire family having...
Read moreMan, I'd hate to be a local resident when this place opens for the season. Traffic can be a nightmare but they have ample parking, so have faith! It may take 2 hours on a Saturday to drive the last 2-3 miles to get to this place, but you will get there and there will be parking.
The breadth of displays was quite interesting and my photos do not do it justice. Think of it as "a little bit for everyone". I appreciate that key family photo areas were generally pulled away from the flow of foot traffic. I'm glad, too, that everyone is set in the same direction. You should never need to go against the flow of traffic. But someone probably will.
Most of the venue seems to be wheelchair accessible, though the crowds may make navigation difficult for the mobility challenged. Some of their shops might not be realistically accessible, despite having open floor space, due to crowd and door width (I didn't measure the doors, but some of them seemed narrow). They do have designated handicap parking as well, though everything slopes down towards the village. So a strong ally may be appropriate.
We spent well over an hour wandering the path and looking at displays. I can confidently say my 3yr old LOVED the village, especially the lights she could reach and the giant candy canes. So all in all, the experience was worth the cost and traffic.
Only 4 stars because I couldn't decide how appropriate some of the displays or display placements are for the...
Read moreI came here in 2014 and needless to say, I don't know why this place hasn't been featured on The Great Christmas Light Fight, because if it were to be featured, it would definitely win the $50,000 and the trophy! Now, about the village, me being a massive train fan, I was very impressed with the trains. That's right, there are multiple displays in the village that incorporate trains, not just the model train layout in the refreshment barn/gift shop, and all of them incorporate fully functional model trains. The very last thing I saw in the village before I left was the model train layout in the refreshment barn/gift shop and much to my delight, the man running the gift shop was wearing an engineers costume with overalls and an engineers hat! That later became an inspiration for me because I myself now am an active model railroader, and when I show off my trains to the public, I wear an engineers costume with overalls and an engineers hat. And that's without mentioning that while you are in Berks County, you must ride the steam train at the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad. #2102 re-entered service last year and she has been hauling excursions ever since then. And another thing. I am also a drug hater and I love the fact that Christmas Village has ZERO TOLERANCE for smoking and vaping in...
