Their prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinners are so good. I especially love their brisket, fried green tomatoes, and potatoes/fries. My husband buys their pork chops to grill at home when we've run out of the pork we have butchered a few times a year, and they're always great. Store bought just isn't the same as quality raised/butchered meats (iykyk), and Redstone has Q U A L I T Y. Last night, we were gifted a Wagyu Steak and given instructions on how to grill it, and let me just say WOW!!!! I can assure you, when we're out of steak and waiting on another whole beef to be processed, Redstone is where we'll be getting them, Wagyu and otherwise. 10/10 for sure.
Nostalgia Moment: I miss the days of riding up to "Redstone Grocery" for weekend breakfast with my daddy and pawpaw, so I love them being just up the street (even if it's technically in Attica đ).
If you're looking for unique gifts, they've got them. Need some fresh fruits/veggies or those harder to find items, they've got that, too. Their BBQ sauces, dry rubs, and blueberry sausage are all out of this world. I've not met one person working there who wasn't super friendly and willing to help you find what you need. Also, if you weren't aware, the things they do for our local community are pretty amazing. I highly recommend you...
Read moreI stopped on the way to work for a biscuit one day. It took 20 minutes and wasnât very good, as others have noted - theyâll keep Golden Pantry in business I guess.
So my 7 year old daughter has been going to work with me in Athens this summer and LOVES to stop by this cute store for (pricy) snacks on the way home. We went there about twice a week for a couple weeks. It gets real old waiting for a worker to finish the slow biscuit in front of you just to ASK for a cup. Read that again. At a convenience store with self serve fountain drinks, you have to request a foam cup. They explained to me, both at the cafe and at the front register, that they think you as a customer might steal their styrofoam cups so you have to ask. No apologies really just explanation. Thatâs like a fast food joint counting napkins and ketchup packs. Itâs a poor management by noob owners destined to fail. Itâs a convenient spot and a nice place, but I could spend the lost time going somewhere further where I can get cheaper snacks from people who donât treat all their customers with distrust because of one one bad apple who took to many cups.
I had high hopes for this place, but if you thought it would be sort of like striplings, then think again. I wonât be back. Just not worth my...
Read moreI have been on the hunt for high-quality, locally sourced meats, so we stopped by to check it out.
We got the Brisket Philly Sandwich, Brunswick Stew, and a side of BBQ beans to try. They were ok, but I'm not sure we would come here specifically to eat the pre-made hot foods again.
The store was very interesting with a lot of niche and boutique like food items that looked interesting but were also priced like boutique items.
The lady who checked us out at the front register was amazing and super nice to chat with while checking out. There was also another young lady working the front-end, maybe a manager, that was also very nice and helpful.
The reason the rating is so low is because of the butcher area. They had a lot of meats that looked like they were once high-quality, well cut, lots of marbling in the beef, etc. The problem is that it all looked dried out and leathery. The real ohh no moment was the chicken breasts. It was bad enough that I thought they we marinated at first, and when I got closer to check the sign and see it was only the tops, I knew it wasn't. The crazy thing is it was only the tops because the points that were covered by the last layer all looked normal and much more moist. I just hope nobody gets sick...
