I appreciate the variety of food options at this store and how well-kept it is. One highlight for me is that they sell oxtails, which I love. However, I’m giving three stars instead of five due to some uncomfortable interactions with cashiers.
Several years ago, before 2020, an older female cashier made a point to check our food stamp balance on the receipt before handing it over to my partner. It was intrusive and unnecessary. Having worked in retail myself, I know there’s no reason for a cashier to focus on a customer’s food stamp balance—it felt inappropriate.
More recently, in January 2025, my partner and I had a friendly conversation with a cashier while checking out, discussing how changing weather can affect people’s health. As we were finishing up, she suddenly pointed at her forehead and awkwardly suggested I use Vital Proteins for wrinkles. It was an unprompted remark, completely unrelated to our conversation, and came across as rude and unnecessary. Her hesitation before saying it made it clear she knew it wasn’t appropriate. Afterward, she seemed noticeably upbeat with her coworkers, which made me feel as though she enjoyed making the comment at my expense. She was using a tanning powder from the TikTok shop, which gave her a distinctly sun-kissed look.
While I enjoy shopping here, experiences like these make me wonder if a self-checkout system would be beneficial. It could reduce customer discomfort and improve efficiency, ensuring interactions are professional and respectful. I understand staffing decisions are up to the store, but I wanted to share my honest experience along with a possible...

I shop here for meat more than anything else! They have the best prices, and some of the best quality meat of any place in town. And the butcher is also very friendly and helpful! Their produce section is also always good, and fresh! Some of the stuff here is obviously a little bit more pricey sometimes then the other stores in town. But you pay for the convenience of the location. More often than not I don't mind paying a little bit more, because it's much nicer being able to come here. As opposed to going all the way across town to Walmart.
Over all it's one of my favorite grocery stores to shop at, and I would definitely...
