Overpriced and Disappointing Experience at Grease Monkey

I recently visited Grease Monkey, enticed by their first responder discount, for what I thought would be a simple, cost-effective oil change. My experience, however, was anything but straightforward or affordable.

Firstly, I was taken aback when the technician questioned me on how many quarts of oil my vehicle required — a detail that I believe a trained professional should be well-versed in. After a 20-minute wait, which is reasonable, I was shocked at the price quoted: $100.28 even after the discount was applied, a far cry from the usual cost of an oil change.

Upon doing some research, I found that the oil used for my vehicle costs around $8 per quart. With my vehicle requiring 5 quarts, and the oil filter priced at about $6, the total cost for parts would be roughly $46. Even accounting for labor, the cost of over $100 is exorbitant.

I understand that businesses must make a profit, but this price point seems to take advantage of customers. In comparison, the service I receive at Walmart is not only more affordable but transparent in pricing. Unless Grease Monkey revises their pricing strategy, I will not return and would advise others to seek more reasonable alternatives for their vehicle...

I asked 3, maybe 4 times how much it would cost for my husband’s truck that it is in the system and the guy (one with tats) ignored the first time, the second time he showed me a list of prices and said he wouldn’t know unless his truck was already in the system, I once again told him it was, he ignored me turned his back to the small room to print out my sticker, the other guy was at the front computer I thought was going to look up the price history of my husband’s truck but no he was just waiting on the print out. I asked about the filter, tattoo guy said air filter was fine I said no the oil filter, he asked the other guy and all he said was it was nasty. The supervisor of this place was very disrespectful towards me, I overheard her being very disrespectful towards the employees, and sat on her phone. She had very poor customer service skills and has a don’t care I’m better than you attitude. If she spent the same amount of time working as she does sitting on her phone and being rude to customers and employees, this place would be somewhere I wouldn’t mind returning to.
