After about a month stay, 2 surgeries, one life saving at Kent hospital...thank you Dr. Nicastri for saving my mother's life š. With a few days in the ICU and a week in the step down unit mom fought her way back to life and was ready for Rehab. With the insurance giving us a hard time to stay at the hospitals rehab floor and with hope of staying close to home and NOT GOING INTO A NURSING HOME, we got the news mom was going to go to a new place that just opened in Johnston. Boy we couldn't have been happier𤩠mom was one of the first 3 patients admitted on opening day at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Johnston. Mom was transported there while I drove to meet her there...she was greated by a soul train type line being welcomed as she "rolled on past the staff welcoming her to the next stage of her heeling. Once I got there I was greated in the same manner, everyone is amazingly friendly, and give you all the time you need to get all your questions answered and or give more info that the hospital may not think to inform them about. The saff....oh my lord the staff are amazing; friendly at all times ...no matter what time at day, night or wee hours, when you hit that button someone will be there to answer the call. Here is a SPEICAL SHOT OUT TO THE MANY WHO EEALLY STOOD OUT HELPPING MY MOM: Nurse's and CNA's ⢠Moriam ⢠Dom ⢠Melisa ⢠Vivian ⢠Katlein ⢠Ruth ⢠Edna Wound care Specialist ⢠Lisa; frigging amazing, love this women! On the ball and keeps everyone on their toes with how things need to be done according to the individual needs. Not to mention training with family is top notch! Both my self and my son felt comfortable enough to go home and work with moms needs ...in-between home health nurses coming out too. Social work staff ⢠Jen B; very caring and on top of what ever needs to be done or finds out info of what ever questions you have. PT and OT these ladies did their best to get my mom up and moving and on the road to having the confidence to get back to everyday life š
⢠Allie and Kim ⢠Bethany ⢠Andrea The docs To the two docs who continuously checked on my mom, I had your names on my notes but, lost that slip but to the two of you thank you for your part in helping Mom make those steps she needed to gain on her continuos and long road to recovery.
The food...not bad either...Mom is picky on top of now having food limitations. And a new diet, But the food was amazing..most of the time šš and presentable too. Mom's care was complete as much as it could be in this stage of care, and she was as ready as she was going to be both physically and mentally 10 days later....the process was just as on the ball as the check in process; with the different staff programs making sure everything was was set up and questions answered. Very friendly, caring and professional staff, they know how to make you feel as much at home as they can giving your situation. And patients with those patients who just had challenges that lead to lashing out for what ever reasons...staff delt with them perfectly and with a caring hand. The digs, wow spot on! The rooms are all private, very presentable and as home like as it can be for a care facility, we brought pictures from home to help motivate and have mom feel more comfortable. Bathroom was large and very accommodating.very pleased with this place...and if your a medical care person they are still working on filling the staff there...it seems like a nice chill place to work. Our last day, you get to pick a song and then as you are walking out you have that soul train line going with staff praising and clapping as you walk or do a jig on down to the door...very please and thankful for this place I can't even imagine how that time in rehab would have been anywhere else esp for my mom who has had life changing surgeries. Thank you ALL AGAIN for all you have done for my mother and...

I also did my own research online, and from the moment you walk through the doors, you can tellāif you ever need rehab, this is absolutely the place to be.
I was in contact with Micaela and Jill from the admissions team. Jill did a fantastic job reassuring me that they would do everything they could to get me in. When it was time for my surgery, the transition from the hospital to the rehab center was smooth and seamless.
My room was private, well-appointed, and very comfortable. I had a great view from the window and didnāt feel like I was in a hospitalāI felt like I was being cared for in an upscale facility.
The very next day, I began my rehab regimenāthree hours a day, broken into one-hour increments. At first, it felt like a lot, but Iām incredibly grateful that I pushed through with the support of my entire care team: physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others. Because of them, I was able to walk out of the facility on my ownājust eight days after coming in on a stretcher.
The staff went above and beyond to keep my morale up. They made sure I was heard when it came to medication and comfort. If I had a concern, it was addressed immediately. If I moved and triggered the bed alarm, someone was in the room within seconds. Iāve never visited another facility that demonstrated the level of care and compassion I received during my time at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital.
The grounds were beautiful. On days when my family visited, they could take me outside to a lovely, shaded gazebo with a fan. My family always felt welcome to come and go. There was even a cafeteria where they could purchase meals at a very reasonable costāwhich helped a lot, especially when they were visiting on their lunch breaks or right after work.
If I had one small suggestion, it would be the addition of more activities. But to be fair, I was likely one of the youngest patients thereāmost appeared to be in their late 60s to mid-80sāso perhaps they werenāt as interested in activities as I was.
The food was good, and they made every effort to ensure I was well-nourished. If I didnāt like what was on the menu, they offered other options without hesitation.
I also want to say thank you to everyone who was part of my care team.
One especially beautiful moment came on my discharge day. A staff member came to my room and asked me what song I wanted played when I left. I chose āThis Girl Is on Fire,ā and as I walked out, that song played while staff lined up to wish me well on my journey. I canāt express how touching and empowering that was.
I truly believe my recovery would look very different if not for the care I received at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital.
When I had a follow-up appointment with my primary care physician, I told him, āIf you have any patients who need rehab, this is where you should be sending them.ā He was genuinely appreciative of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIam a current employee of Encompass Health and I have to say this is a amazing place to not only work but be part of. I can honestly say this is definitely my dream job. Let's talk about the some of the many amazing people that welcomed me to Encompass Health. Daniel Parkinson is one of if not the best CEO that I have had the pleasure to work under. Daniel was so hands on and welcome during my training, I truly forgot he was the CEO of the company. Anytime I see Daniel , he always says hello and asked how I was doing. Next would be Scott Andrews. Scott Andrews is the human resources director. Scott Andrews has helped me so much with my onboarding process and any questions that I have had sense I started at Encompass. I have never had so many pleasant interactions from a human resources director, my entire working career. From administration to the wonderful Muhammad Ali Haider, who is one of Encompass leading payroll administrators. He has also taken time to help me out with any situation that I had and even took the time to address my questions and followed up with me once my questions have been answered. Anytime I saw Muhammad in the building, we also had a great conversation and he always advised his door was open if I had any questions. So finally to the nursing department. I had the pleasure of training with Crystal. Crystal took two days out of her busy schedule to train me. She a amazing trainer. I have trained with many people, but I have to say she is one of the best. She took the time to show me every toll I would need to become a successful Nursing technician. I can't thank her enough for doing that for me. I also trained with another amazing Nursing technician, Ruth. Ruth took a entire day to also allow me to shadow her and I really appreciate that. Ruth goes over and beyond for her patients and even comes in on her day off. Truly amazing. Well these are only few of a huge number of employees that work at Encompass and I hope this review, makes you and your love ones choose Encompass if ever having to have to come...
