Jenny Q's and Myshkin's performances along with their ensemble of musicians and loving oral readers, described their trauma and worry about Jenny's horrible infection that almost cost her life and severely damaged her body. It was heart wrenching and beautiful. Beautiful to see how this woman, who is so loved by her community and by her fierce family tribe, overcame such adversity. Jenny is so open and honest about her journey from hell and how she, Myshkin, Yasmin (her daughter) and all of her friends and family dealt with the aftermath. I am part of this community and felt that the words spoken and the beautiful songs performed were exceptionally emotional for me. This was in the backdrop of the beautiful, expansive Mojave Desert. A perfect night at the perfect place to tell the story of a brave and loving woman who's struggle with an insidious infection impacted everyone who knows her and loves her.
