TLDR: Skip the golf and range, grab a bite if you must, but absolutely enroll your kid in the First Tee program.
I've played about 35 rounds of golf at this course, had 10 or so meals, and used the range 400 to 500 hundred times over the last 8 or 9 years.
The course is short and somewhat generic. If the whole course was like the back nine, I would consider the course an ok track to play a lazy evening round, but the front nine tracks around backyards and an apartment complex that are practically sitting on the fairway. And based on the number of signs the homeowners have put up around the course, they do not care for golfers. The cost to play a round is way overpriced for what it is; at best, tee times should be around $35 at peak season. If you are a golfer, I recommend burning some gas and finding a tee time just about anywhere else other than Jupiter Dunes, you will enjoy it more.
They just finished a renovation that somehow took a couple years. It now looks much better than it did, but the diner is still just a room with a bar, tables, and pro-shop desk. Deck seating is nice unless the sewage fumes are in play (unfortunately, the renovations did not address this).
The range is a pond with some floating targets. There is intermittent music pumped out there, which can be nice. The range should really be considered a novelty rather than a practice area. They occasionally have grass to hit off, but 90% of the time you are hitting off a mat. The balls have consistently been the worst I have ever come across at a range. Four or five different types of balls, generally worn, cracked, and/or dimple-less. On the bright side, the crazy ball flights created by the poor condition of the balls can be interesting. Prices just went up to $10 for a bucket of 30 or so balls, which is ridiculous for mats and horrible balls. So I don't have any reason to go to this course any more.
Food is good, but nothing more than typical. They have (or had) a local reputation of having the best burgers in Jupiter, and while I do recall having a good one 5 or 6 years ago under the previous owners, I don't think this is the case now.
The saving grace of this place is the staff and especially the First Tee program run by John Gansz - I'd give his program 6 stars if that was an option and I could rate it....
Read moreThis is a strange place to play. First time on the course. The guy at the desk up next to the restaurant (no pro shop) said "you know where to go" and we said we didn't as it was our first time. So he just pointed down below and said to find someone in a golf cart to tell us where to go next. We had arrived 30 minutes early for our 3:30 PM tee time and since there was no one behind us, were told to go ahead and tee off if we wanted to, which we did. AFTER one of us teed off, a single player came up to us and said he was told he was playing with us. That's fine, we didn't care. After all 3 of us teed off, and were off the tee box, on our way down the fairway to our shots, another single came up and said he was told to join our group. So we all went back to the tee box while he hit. Bizarre. There was no one booked for the entire afternoon behind us. I get it that you want to keep the pace of play moving but this was late afternoon, no one booked after us so it was a bit odd. Why not let the two singles just play, or maybe send them out as a twosome. We didn't like the course, quit...
Read moreSo its a par 70 and the yardages are a little exaggerated. I would consider this a long executive course with the exxagerated yardage so they could charge regular course rates. Had a 732 tee time and the starter sent us out at about 720. There were workers on the first 4 greens while we were playing and surrounding every whole of the course, it was VERY distracting and annoying. When brought to the attention of the clubhouse they said sorry but there was a jupiter ordinance not allowing them to start working before 7. Well instead of cramming in all these early tee times to make a few extra bucks they should start there tee times at 8 to make it an enjoyable round for all who are playing, it felt like a waste of 40 bucks per person. After making the comment to them we were treated like second class citizens. The course was in decent shape, but definitely not too challenging or as long as it says. All in all i WOULD NOT recommend this course, with so many other options within such short driving distance save yourself the hassle and aggrivation and golf...
