Lakeside Speedway — Local services in Kansas City

I participated the Kenny Wallace "Ride Along Dirt Racing Experience". I gave it one star so everyone who reads this will know I am not satisfied with the whole ordeal. My son bought me a 3 lap Ride Along at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas for my birthday. Checking in the lady was not too enthusiastic to say the least, probably because I declined the offer of an extra lap for $20 .I saw the helmets so I went over and started to try some on when an older burly woman told me to put it down until I was called. So I found a seat and waited and waited and waited. Finaly I decided that I was on my own, so I started asking the dissorderly staff when will I know when it is my turn. I was not impressed so far but I kept telling myself that it will be worth it in the end!!! Up to this point it felt like a carnival amusement kiddy show only a lot less organized. Well after waiting an hour and one half I finally had my 3 laps. No big deal. My son bought this $60+ experience for my birthday so I could not complain to him other than to tell him it was a "memorable experience". In truth this sucked big time. What a money making Joke. I’ve been coming here for 18 years since I was born and I love the track and the excitement that is brings every Friday. This is my go to track on the weekends but I can’t help but to notice the decline of the amount of cars over the years. Another thing I would like to add is the deterioration of the track surface between turn 1 and 2. This rut has been very prominent for the last couple of years and it seems to never be fixed. All of that put aside this is an amazing track that I think everyone should experience and hopefully the staff will keep this place up and running for many years to come. Another thing to add for 2023 is who ever is watering this track needs a different job because it is always inconsistent and dry all the time. Way too many yellow flags over track conditions. 2025 update, it’s only gotten worse as now the track is ripping off fans for bs, “special” race events. They held 2 classes and only had 36 cars, zero features, 45 minute intermission to drag the night out, even worse Saturday the 23 you have to pay extra money again for the main event, this place needs a new owner,...

Tried to use a coupon from a school Fund Raiser book that is buy one admission, get one free. Expiration date 12/31/2016. They refused to honor it. They had a coupon that expired 12/31/2015 that was posted saying they wouldn't accept them anymore.

If they are going to participate in the school fund raiser programs they should honor their commitments. What a rip. My brother drove all the way from Belton to attend the race on 9/25/2015 and they wouldn't honor the coupon. Luckily someone else with him was able to fork over the money for his ticket.

They won't even call me back to discuss the situation. This sounds like false advertising and a very cheap tactic.

Don't put coupons in books you don't intend to honor and at least have the decency to call me back.

UPDATE: Talked with the owner of the speedway and he explained the situation. I understand the situation now. He was very cool...
