Like the product selection, layout is unique, great parking, great location, but the majority of the staff is useless and that's why I'm beginning to loathe my trips to this Menards. I've been renovating my home and been spending a lot of time and money at this store - 10 trips in two weeks - over $1,000 in supplies. Here's what I've found to be generally true.
If you ask for help when a staff member is putting something away and you will not get proper service. Ask a staff member for something that just so happens to be in another department, and you'll get mixed results - mostly bad. One day I went in and everyone was putting stuff away and was not helpful, so they had runners going from dept to dept checking on customers. One ran by me asking other customers if they needed help while they continued to walk by everyone. LOL. Slow down please.
I needed very specific things each time I was in. Some days I had lots of questions before I could purchase, so I relied on some experience. Sadly, I found there was no consistency between departments. On Tuesday Electrical is great when Bill is there, but Lighting is awful because the truck came in the night before and everyone in lighting is now busy putting things away to help.
I will walk down the aisle next to an employee who's putting away items multiple times, each subsequent time, looking more and more frustrated just to see what they do. I've only had one, in the Paint Department, stop putting stuff away and notice me, to see If I needed help.
There were several times when employees are were too busy talking with each other to help. Sometimes they were putting stuff way, but other times, just hanging out.
The manager of this store is responsible/accountable for the employees and their behavior. If I had someone help me, properly, each time I went in, my trips to Menards would be cut in half.
If I have a list, there's no way to create map that takes you through the store only once. The Menards app shows product availability, but does not include inventory locations of products. So, basically, it's useless when you are at the store trying to find things, so I fall back to employee assistance. Wish it was not true, but I find customer service inconsistent and mostly lacking at this store.
Side note. Two times in the 10 I witnessed KCPD taking some shoplifters to jail. I've also heard "security area _" almost every time I went in the store. Loss protection must be an issue, so they must have a lot of...
Read moreThe $1600 washer and dryer story. BTW worst customer service experience of my life..
The date was 9/1/2018, a great deal on a washer/dryer was found, and $1600 was paid online for these items. The washer, a floor model, was available at anytime but the dryer was with the vendor and needed to be shipped. The shipping date was supposed to be 9/17 and since we just moved into our new home and that was 1 week past our move in date, that would be ok.
9/17-- No shipping confirmation but I thought I would give it a few days. 9/22-- Called menards, spoke with department manager who stated that "the washer had been picked up by the customer and the order was filled." I assured him that this was not the case and that we had not picked up the washer. I also asked for information about the dryer. The manager asked for a day to figure out what was going on. I obliged. 9/23-- Called Menards again about order. After speaking with the department manager, we found out that the dryer was on back order and that it would not ship until mid October. I asked if there was anything he could do that would enable me to wash my clothes. He repeated that there was nothing that he could do to help me and that the problem was with the vendor. At no point did he offer a different model, to look for a different model, or to do anything beyond blame the vendor for shipping issues. I asked to speak with the store manager. After a brief hold, I spoke with the store manager. He reiterated that there was nothing they could do and that they could not help me other than for me to wait until mid October when the vendor shipped the product. Astounded, I asked if there were other washer/dryers that I could purchase. He stated, he didn't know and that I would have to ask the department manager. He then transferred me back to his department manager. At this point, after almost of a month of no communication, no help, no customer service except blaming the vendor for not being able to ship the product timely, I have asked for my money back. I was assured I would have my money back in 2 days. As of yet, I still do not have my money back but if their customer service is any indication of their word, then rigor may set in before I get my money back 9/24-- received a voicemail saying that since I bought the washer dryer online, they cant refund my money and in order for me to receive my refund, I have to submit a refund ticket via the online store. Went ahead and did that an a "representative will review...
Read moreWe decided to take another family trip to menards to buy some more Christmas decorations. I brought a hot chocolate in the store and when taking a drink I would pull my mask down, then pull it up. An employee told me I need to wear my mask all the way up, I told him politely I was taking a drink and would put my mask back on. The employee was very rude and asked me if I was constantly taking a drink. I told the employee he really did not need to be rude as I was following safety precautions. No one else was around besides my husband, I and our children. He then started arguing with me and being very combative. I asked to speak with a manager. In the meantime the employee came back and continued to argue and walk up to me. I asked him if he would just like to wait until the manager got there and to see if he would continue to talk to me the way he was in front of the manager. The manager Kevin came and was also being extremely rude. I was just very baffled as to why the employees were being so hostile. He said I was refusing to wear a mask. I said I put the mask on as soon as the employee asked, I just told the employee I had been taking a drink. I asked the manager to review the videos so he could see how argumentative and rude the employee was being. I showed the manager what I was doing when the employee asked me to pull up my mask. The manager then asked me to leave the store. This was very embarrassing in front of my children 1) to have a grown man argue and be hostile with their mother 2) when trying to speak with a manager to explain that the employee was being hostile, the manager became rude and Condescending 3) being asked to leave a store in front of my children when we were there to have a fun time to Christmas shop AND when we were all following the health regulations as my family and I take our and everyone else’s safety serious. Very disappointed and now regret spending a lot of money at menards. I also asked to speak with the general manager and he said he was the general manager and that there was no one above him....
