One of the nicest, most convenient and certainly the friendliest places Iāve run across. My family and I were taking the scenic route from New Orleans along the coast heading toward texas, when we stopped for gas at Pecan Island Food Store, the fuel pumps had been out due to equipment trouble. With my gas light on and only twenty miles or so left in the tank and closest gas station more than fifty miles away, the staff couldnāt have been more helpful and understanding. They called around and found a staff member who had a spare 5 gallons of gas at her home. She promptly ran it over to the store who then let me use a funnel and some piping to fill my tank. The staff would not accept money for the gas or supplies only accepting a THANK YOU from my wife and I.
