I was a little disappointed that the “blow your own glass” wasn’t as hands on as I expected. The artist did the majority of the work while we supplied some air through a tube. Despite that it was a cool place with some interesting art. What lead to a lower rating was the wait time in actual receiving our pieces as well as poor customer service by one worker. We were told it could take 5-7 days for our glass pieces to be ready. After day 7 and no phone call I decided to call and check up. The gentleman I spoke to was kind and let me know that they had not been removed from the kiln but expects them to be out in the next day or so and to expect a call. After another week and no call I called again, this time an older woman answered. I let her know It’s been over 2 weeks now since we were in to create our pieces and have not gotten a call back. This lady was quite rude stating she had called and left a voicemail. My boyfriend and I both checked for a voicemail on our phones but neither one of us could find one from the shop. My boyfriend then asked what number she called because we each put in our own. the lady responded “the one you wrote down” said goodbye, and then hung up. We were both quite upset with her reaction as we were simply confused and needing some help. I don’t normally leave reviews but was quite upset with my experience here as the pieces were quite expensive with our total being over 100$ for just the two of us, not being more hands on, receiving poor customer service and waiting over 2 weeks to pick...
Read moreKarg Art Glass is one of the coolest galleries outside of Wichita's commerce street, Fisch Haus and Old Town neighborhoods located in Kechi, KS. This is a destination for art lovers and be sure to call ahead and see if artists are working in the studio blowing glass. It is so much fun to watch them work with the molten glass and infuse it with color and shaping it into whatever whimsical shape the artist can create. They have other mediums beside glass blowing including sculpture, canvas and woodworking. There are thousands of pieces available for sale from many different artists. However, I believe many of the pieces of art are way overpriced. I've been in Karg many times and I recognize many glass pieces that have not sold. No wonder so many artists are "starving" because they are way to proud to price their creations for...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful art glass!! From bowls, to paperweights, to vases, to kaleidoscopes. So many colors. Look up. Look down. Turn around slowly. There is a piece that will catch your attention on every surface.
We were there for at least an hour because there is so much to see. The employees were very friendly and stopped to ask us if we needed help or had any questions.
Each artist has his or her name displayed with the pieces they created. If you're afraid to pick up the piece to see the price, an employee is close by to offer you help. What's nice is that they didn't hover, just made themselves available where help was needed.
Couldn't resist taking home a beautiful piece of glass to display...
