As someone who has lived in RV parks across the country for six years with my family for my husbandās career, this was, sadly, the most uncomfortable experience weāve ever had. In my opinion, Wild Country RV Park has some serious issues that prospective residents especially families should be aware of before committing to staying here.
During our time at the park, I personally witnessed and experienced what I would describe as incredibly toxic dynamics involving the maintenance staff and their family.
From the start, it seemed there was a pattern of targeting and alienating families whose children didnāt get along with theirs. In my view, itās incredibly inappropriate when simple playground disagreements between kids escalate into adults being pushed out of their homes. We heard of multiple families, who were either removed or left due to ongoing conflict that appeared to stem from this same small group.
What felt especially troubling to me was how quickly accusations were made about parents and children particularly fathers simply playing with their own kids at the playground. I was shocked to hear comments I personally found extreme, including labeling a father as ācreepyā for pushing a child (not his own) on a swing a child who was often unsupervised and regularly asked adults to play. I believe no parent should feel unsafe or accused, especially in a Facebook group tied to the park that includes past and current residents. From what I observed, no evidence was shared, and the posts were quickly deleted which to me looked like an attempt to cover up what was said.
When I spoke up in support of that father, I personally became a target of hostility. In my experience, the situation escalated quickly and became deeply uncomfortable. I was spoken to rudely online by a staff memberās family member and later brought into the office, where I was shocked by how it was handled. I felt dismissed, and instead of de-escalation, I personally experienced serious aggression and intimidation by a maintenance staff member (a grown man) that left me in tears. When I told the office staff I didnāt feel safe, I was told she knew all the police in town, they didnāt āhave timeā for this, and that he wasnāt āhurting me.ā This was one of the most emotionally distressing encounters Iāve ever had in any RV park. That same man also gave my 10-year-old son the middle finger in the parking lot after yelling in my face inside the office.
I also found it inappropriate, as a parent, that adult drama was regularly shared with teenagers in the park. I strongly believe kids should be protected from that kind of stress not pulled into it. If someone isnāt liked, it seems they make sure to tell EVERY new resident, including children.
Iāve worked in RV parks before, including managing one in southern Colorado, and I can say with confidence Iāve never seen this level of drama or mismanagement. In my opinion, favoritism and personal grudges are prioritized over community well-being. We had felt hopeful our kids had made friends and were happy but the environment became too hostile to stay.
From what I could gather, the owners may not be fully aware of how bad things have gotten under current management. Based on my faith and values (which the parkās online presence seems to share), I find it heartbreaking to see peace and joy taken from children and families. I truly hope changes are made, because the potential for this to be a wonderful place is there.
But if you're a family with kids, I would personally urge you to reconsider. In my opinion, the emotional stress, lack of professionalism, and divisiveness simply...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTried to secure a two month reservation with this campground for September And October, 2024. Woman answered the phone and started the usual query as to the number of people, pets etc. I told her we were retired individuals wanting a spot to visit our son and his wife who live in the Denver area. The next question wanted to know the age of our rig. Being honest, I told her that our rig was a 2003 Thor Citation. She NEVER said that the campground would not take older rigs and I could not find anywhere on their website about rig age.THAT IS WHEN THE LIES STARTED. She said that they do not take reservations and that they would have to call me sometime in August with availability. Sensing an issue, I explained that our rig was a one-owner and that our rig looks better than a lot of newer rigs on the road today. We felt that we were being snowed, so the next morning, I sent three pics of our rig to the campground. Well, our thoughts became a reality when we got a snotty, all capital response stating that there were no exceptions. Asking the age of the rig is their way of screening undesirable rigs in the campground. OK, but when I send them pics showing a rig in mint condition, they should think long and hard about allowance into the campground. What about refurbished old rigs like the 1960's Shastas that are...
