Chemeketa Community College is a nice school to go to except...

Their Financial Aid Office will screw you around on the Financial Aid you deserve.

In 2012 I was declared a ward of state and attended PSU for my first year, no problems. In 2014 I decided to take a term at Chemeketa until I could decide what next step to take in my life.

I will admit I submitted my application late, meaning my financial aid would get to me about mid fall term. I am now in week 8 of school and STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY AID. Plus, they screwed me over on the "Ward of State EFC 00000" that I deserved and forced me to contact a parent I wasn't talking to in order to get their IRS Tax refund form for 2013. Then, after I submitted that information, it STILL wasn't enough for them. I had to go back and get her to go to the IRS website to submit it that way. After all was said and done, and they confirmed I had satisfied all the required documents, my financial aid was declared on my Chemeketa that it was being processed. Today, I look on my account and it says that I still need to submit documents that were submitted MONTHS AGO. Due to not being able to get the hold off of my account, I am unable to get my Official Transcript to send to the school that I am now next to since I moved.

Overall, Chemeketa Community College Financial Aid has screwed me out of money I deserve, money that I need to pay off the hold they placed on my account, and my possible future education.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL IF YOU ARE A WARD OF STATE, FOSTER CHILD, ETC SINCE YOU WERE THE AGE OF 13. They will not accept your documents and will...

Classes are okay, I gues it depends on which teacher you get. O stars for food on campus. There use to be 3 vegan options, but now they're gone. They mix cheese and meat into their salads. There are only 2 types of chips that are vegan. There is nothing there that is going to make your hunger go away. Just apples, plain bagel, or plain chips. I go off campus to get food so that's a waste of my time. Also, asl class is only online. With in person class you get to learn so much more, it's a shame. I also think financial aid needs an attitude check. Old blond lady is very rude. They do have interesting clubs. Some events seem interesting too, I haven't been to one though. I went to the bookstore to buy a car charger for my phone and it charged my 1 % an hour so don't buy that from there. The advisors are helpful, but one term they didn't point out that one of my classes wasn't going towards my degree. I needlessly took the class for no reason. What a waste of time and...

I would like to start off by saying you get what you pay for, but Chemeketa takes this even further by giving you trash instead. The admin staff is incompetent, on their best day. The financial aid department has no clue as to what is going on. They fail to take responsibility when they make an error and blame the students instead. The advising staff maybe laid-off circus performers, no offense to circus performers, each adviser will give you a different degree plan. The website is unreliable and hard to navigate. Chemeketa also heavily uses Pearson, a cheap and sub par software. Good luck getting into your courses. Each classes' online classroom is different so get ready to search for your homework, labs, quizzes, and tests.

If you are able to attend a different school, do so! AVOID THIS SCHOOL!! If you can't be prepared to be frustrated, disrespected, lied to, and have countless hours of your...

I enrolled in the GED course at Chemeketa public community Campus. Since I receive food benefits from snap Program are qualified for the free course for one year then we can review it after and make edits. They have a food pantry (I’m allowed to pick five items from the pantry ( today, I picked out top Ramen noodles, sunny D , mouthwash, green , applesauce and usually I get a pop tart .) the food items I can pick 5 a clothes pan pantry.(the clothes pantry I can pick five items.) they ask for a k. And that is given once we register for a course. Or a student at Chemeketa community college

Buildings nice. Instructors great. Broken elevator in main student building 2 not hospitable to disabled. No food court or cafeteria, only junk food machines and snack shack on health building with very limited food choices ( cold premade sandwiches, chips and coffee and NA beverages. Not enough disabled parking in health building:-( cannot register for needed courses (bio112) full two semesters in a row. That’s at least a year setback for future nurses trying to get pre-requisites MAJOR PROBLEM!

Chemeketa Community College is a solid option if you’re looking for affordable education, flexibility, and strong support services. It’s ideal for students who are working part-time or full-time, parents returning to school, or those looking to start their college journey before transferring to a four-year institution. The community aspect is a bit quieter than at a traditional university, but the quality of education and the resources available make up for it.
