If you are looking for biking trails, motorcycle riding, or an extreme hike or relaxed hike, then head to Canfield mountain.. There area few different trails to hike up.. If you go up the straight path it's very intense and an excellent workout.. The view at the top is worth every step.. You can see Coeur d'Alene Lake, Hayden Lake, the whole valley and as far as you can see.. Breathtaking.. It's about 2 miles up.. Can take about 2 hours to hike up and back depending on your strengths.. Worth the try.. You start the hike in a housing development.. There are no bathrooms or water stations near the trail.. Prepare yourself.

This is an amazing spot to go hiking or even to find a nice area to camp in. The views are gorgeous and I loved evey minute of being away from a lot of people. I didnt deal with mosquitoes either but I may have been lucky. Remember to bring a shovel to deal with waste, and garbage is a pack 'n pack out. As wild as you can get next to society. There are numerous gunshots to be heard as well so just a heads up, happy trails

This place e is the most beautiful and peaceful place I've been! There is so much beauty! So much to do.. bike, walk, climb, hike, swim.. the list is endless! The camping is awesome, the sites are all sparatically laid out along the roads, logging is clearly marked, so much to do and see, the water is crisp and the air will mat h!

Um, it's National Forest land. How can it not be awesome?! Very beautiful, enjoyed my short trip up there in my rear wheel drive sedan. Forest Service builds roads... that's mostly what they do. The roads are dirt/gravel but better than many paved roads I've experienced. Took a side trip on the way back from snowboarding. Went up to see the sights and take some pictures. Driving a normal passenger car not a truck, and didn't worry even once!

I do wish the gates had been open on a couple of their other roads and I would have made a loop. Maybe put a warning sign on the roads that might require more than my 6" of ground clearance. I'd have been fine on those too but maybe they would have taken some skill to drive.

The road I took you could take your family camping in the minivan without ever breaking a sweat. Heck there was even phone service at most of the pullouts! It's our land - go...

I've been hiking and camping here for 25+ years. It has at least 2 campgrounds, Honeysuckle and bumblebee, as well as many places to camp without a fee. There is hunting and fishing galore, and some truly amazing views to see! There are swimming holes abound, and the Coeurd'Alene North fork runs through here, with opportunities for tubing and rafting. Had a hard day of fun? Stop in at the Snakepit bar for some great food and local history, as it's a relic/landmark of the Silver Valleys mining days. And what's better than that? The abundant huckleberry bushes that are native to the Pacific northwest! Spend days here picking berries for all the treats you can create! Just a short drive from the Silver valley, Fernan, and Coeurd'Alene, this is the place to go for either fun with family and friends, or just a getaway for yourself. Just pick up your damn trash, and pack it in,...

We hiked Canfield Mountain a 4 mile look. This trail had some moderate incline but the views at the top were worth the effort. Would only hike it this once although for reasons listed in the rest of this review. Beautiful scenery and views of the lake at the top. The reason I give three stars is that this trail is not good for hiking. It is heavily used by mountain bikes and dirt bikes which creates trenched hiking trails to where you have to be constantly looking down to not fall and twist your ankle as you can be walk on to inverted slopes at the same time. If this trail gets filled in with some dirt I would...
