The new store doesn't disappoint!
It's spacious and well organized with clear signs. There is plenty of room for customers to maneuver their carts, even when busy.
Employees are seemingly everywhere.... restocking, answering customer questions, and helping them find items. Every encounter with employees was very friendly in the store at the register.
Their products, in general, are reminiscent of the original store with a wide mix of offerings. They vary greatly in quality and country of origin. They offer very nice brands in the shoe department, and staff was pleasant about checking for other sizes on the back.
The food aisles with canned and packaged foods are loaded with all the great choices at the old store and more. The spices, seasonings, tea, and coffee are very reasonably priced.
The bakery items we bought are fresh and very delicious. If the trip to this store is far for you, I recommend buying what you like and storing some in the freezer at hint... you'll be glad later that you did! Also, if you have a long drive to the store, try bringing a cooler with ice packs to keep all the perishables you're going to want to buy safe.
They offer free coffee in a few different locations--such is a nice thought. They were so popular that one station was out of coffee and the other out of creamer. Hopefully, they'll attend to those better in the future.
In conclusion, the new Dutchman's Store is wonderful. It's practical as a grocery store and also a treat if you have time to wander around and peruse all of their offerings. I highly recommend visiting this gem if you...
Read moreI truly enjoyed my first visit to The Dutchman Country Store. Worth the short drive for sure. As soon as you walk in, there's a free ice cream machine and although it's a super cool feature to this outside the box store, it's not the coolest. To the left there's a really awesome clothing, arts and crafts, and trinkets section. Prices may seem high, but if you search online, you'll find they are not all that high at all. Beyond the main entrance to the right and down the center, you'll find a grocery store that will bogle the mind. If you're a baker, you'll find all manner of baking goods. In the far back, there's a deli that may seem small, bit it is actually quite well-stocked, and the workers cut the meats to your liking. A huge candy section and shelves with large quantity items like the clubs can be found by the deli. All in all, I recommend this store to anyone. There's a lot more to this store and I suggest you read the other reviews and other reviewers have touched on some of those...
Read moreI grew up 15 minutes away (if that) from Cantril, Iowa. When I was a little girl, my grandpa would take us to the small little store and let us pick out our favorite candy to snack on (chocolate stars were the crowd favorite). We would spend nearly an hour, if time aloud, looking through all the trinkets and strolling the tiny aisle of toys and books. I was a huge "little house on the prairie" fan and would often get my books there. Since then, the store has grown a tremendous amount. It's hard to believe how much it has changed. However, it is for the better. Every time I visit, the store is packed with people and I sometimes wonder how they keep product on the shelves. If you hate crowds, I wouldn't recommend going during the busy hours, but other than that, enjoy the experience my small area...
