We had a really hard move - 44 years in one house, and 4 months from the day the realtor arrived to look at our 3-story property to the day we moved into our 2-bedroom condominium. We simply could not have done it without Charm City Organizers. My husband, who was skeptical to start, still tells people CCO is worth every penny they charge and then some.

We had a major downsizing to do and had cleared out only 2/3 of the attic when our realtor gave us a week to get it ready to show (there were two floors and a basement yet to go!). Mary Cate came, and in one 3-hour session, evaluated the house, told us what we needed to do for a successful showing, and got the worst room looking much better than I ever imagined it could. Hence, the ability of our almost-too-efficient realtor to sell the house in only two weeks.

Erica came over once a week for the rest of the summer and helped us choose what to keep, what to dump, and told us where to take it (this involved going through a couple of thousand books, a huge amount of CDs and my mother's antiques, and a LOT of files). Erica is a jewel.

And Amy, their moving specialist, showed up in September to help us decide what belongings wouldn't and would work in our new space - one of which was my beloved 7 foot grand piano which I thought was too big and which I feared I would have to sell. Amy informed me it was NOT too big, showed me why, and was absolutely right.

On moving day, Amy was fantastic: she handled the movers for us (which CCO helped us get) - and she knew what furniture would look good where (which, believe me, was very different from where we had thought things should go). When she saw us looking disappointed in a placement, she made the movers put it in a different spot - we have a king-sized bed and she made them move it 3 times (I would never have had the nerve). My husband is still marveling at how nicely everything fits, and credits Amy. Furthermore, Amy and Erica unpacked and disposed of many boxes - so there were no empty boxes sitting around that night. Best of all, while my husband and I went back to the house to make sure everything was secure for the night, we arrived back at our condo to find that they had organized our kitchen (putting all the dishes and utensils in the cupboards, removing those boxes as well) and made the bed! When I saw that kitchen I almost cried - I had been dreading unpacking those boxes. Amy returned all the next day to help with "mop-up".

SO, this is why you hire Charm City Organizers: They post their rates online, so you can plan what it might cost. They are quite willing to have you use their services piecemeal if you run out of money - there is NO pressure for any sort of longterm contract. They not only advise, but help you, to unload items you decide you cannot use after you move. They contact people for you if you wish, or just let you do it if you prefer. Either way, they have a great list of people who can help you dispose of unwanted stuff. They helped us find our moving company. They told us comparative prices, made the initial contact to secure our moving date with the company we chose, and gave us all the follow-up information we needed. There are dozens of small issues and questions that, if you have stayed in the same place for a long time, you have no way of knowing how to deal with in regards to a major move. CCO not only tells you about them, but cheerfully helps you deal with them. I cannot imagine how we would have done moving day without Amy Bloomer and Erica. There was a big glitch with the movers (the dispatcher understood one thing, the scheduler another), and Amy took care of it (in no uncertain terms) immediately. I would have dissolved in tears and hidden in the basement. Have I mentioned that they are all really, really nice? Efficient? Easy to work with?

Considering that there were 3 terrific people who helped us with this move, I would give Charm City Organizers 15 stars, if it were possible.

5 stars is not...

First of all I just have to say that getting organized is some of the best money I have ever spent. I was overwhelmed, surrounded by clutter and needed a system. When a friend mentioned she had Charm City Organizers help her daughter get her room organized, I knew that was something I needed for my whole house.

This was not just coming in and labeling everything, they worked with me to create a system. In my kitchen we arranged things the way I use them, from most frequent to least frequent. Cabinets organized with spices, canned goods, kitchen accessories arranged as I need to use them. When I walk into my bedroom closet, it feels like I am actually walking into a department store, everything is neatly arranged on hangers by style and color.

The expression "clutter holds you back" is so true. I can now walk into every room in my house and that feels really good. I donated a lot of things and Charm City Organizers will take that with them. That really helped me. I had been wanting to get rid of a large heavy entertainment center for years. Charm City Organizers suggested the Salvation Army. I went online, scheduled a pickup and the Salvation Army came and picked it up. Wow, years of wondering what I am going to do with that was over in one pickup. Knowing where to donate and what to with all the stuff you no longer want is key.

Ironically, one of the things I donated was a book on how to get organized. When you need professional organizers, Charm City Organizers has my highest recommendation. Give...

Charm City Organizers has been incredible for me and my family. Before we started I felt stressed when I walked into my house because it was so cluttered. I talked to Mary Cate who spent a good amount of time on the phone with me going over my needs/wishes for my space and was able to direct me to Christine who has been OUTSTANDING! The first time she came in, at the beginning of January, we made SO much progress. It felt so good to organize what we had and de-clutter we decided to get a package and she continued to make visits with us through May. As you would expect, she was extremely organized and was prompt with messages and details regarding dates/times she was coming as well as packages and rates. She went through each room top to bottom and we always got through more than I expected in the time we set. She asked me what annoyed me most, found wonderful solutions, and gave great tips. She texted me during the week with ideas to help make the space more usable for my needs. She was funny and sincere, on time, and never judgmental. She always made me feel good about the work we had done and it honestly felt like therapy! I feel like my house is brand new. I have room for my toddler's toys and I have the tools I've learned from Christine to maintain the organization she helped put in place. Money well spent to help my house feel like a home. Thank...
