This location, specifically their prepared foods/sandwich line was such a disappointment. I visited this store on 4/27/21 in the late afternoon/early evening, to grab a quick bite to eat. I decided to order a fresh made sandwich/wrap. There was one couple ahead of me, who placed an order for a 30 inch grinder. I should probably mention there were at least 3 or 4 other employees working behind the counter, and this will factor in as I continue on describing my experience.
So, the lady behind the counter takes the couple's order for a 30 inch grinder, and tells them it'll be a a few minutes to prepare the large sandwich. I am up next, and I tell the lady behind the counter what I would like - a chicken salad wrap. Oddly enough, she doesn't ask any of her coworkers for support and instead writes my order down on a a notepad with my name, tells me It'll be a while because she has the 30 inch ahead of my order and to come back. She didn't specify how long or how many minutes, so I had to ask her how long - 10 minutes? 15 minutes? She says yeah, that's good. I've been to various Big Y's around the state, and this was the first time I've ever been told to 'come back later' for my sandwich. From my observations at other Big Y stores, when a line starts to form or there's a large order, that's usually when an employee asks for additional help from their team...
So I wander the store for a few minutes. And decide to swing back around to the sandwich line and just wait for my food. This is where my experience becomes mildly infuriating. I notice a line of people ordering sandwiches - and finally, there is someone assisting with the line. The lady that originally took my order was still putting together that 30 inch grinder, but I figured the other young man behind the counter would get on assisting all the customers, and eventually work my order. But that is not what happened - he helped the other customers with their orders, and once they left, he just stood there. It was obvious I was waiting for something...but he didn't ask if he could help me and instead took off his food prep gloves and was looking for some new task to complete that didn't involve helping me. That is when 30 inch grinder lady (who initially took my order) mentioned I was waiting, then said out loud, 'Do we even have wraps? I don't think we have any' to her coworker. That's when the young man decided to go look in their cold storage area. Of course he couldn't find any wraps, told the other lady, and then they both looked at me and in so many words basically told me I was out of luck. I got the most uncompassionate apology from them, and they didn't go out of their way to try to accommodate or suggest something else. And it's a grocery store...can't they just go down whatever aisle it is and grab some wraps and make my food?
It was such a lousy experience. I usually like Big Y's for their great customer service and excellent prepared foods department, but this one is straight up trash. Avoid. Aside from making me hangry, thanks for...
Read moreThey also have a great variety of groceries inside as well as hot soups and hot foods deli sandwiches that are in any size you can have made to order. They even have a super size sub. Then the Pizza in any size too the pizza is better when it's made fresh compared to the ready to go slices they are always hard crust. The soup the choices last month were great the new England corn chowder is awesome and the rotisserie chicken noodle soup is awesome with the broccoli and cheese soup these are just some of the soups I have tried. They have chicken nuggets those are awesome you can get 25 for $5.00 or 10 for $2.50. The fruit is always fresh and good as well as the vegetables. If the prices were a bit lower it would be great but fortunately it's not. The store has a wide variety of foods products and deals on lots of things. The pastry area has lots of cakes and assorted desserts that look yummy. It's a great place to shop for all...
Read moreI love the sandwiches here very much. Always fresh ingredients and fantastic bread. I usually will skip Subway to treat myself since the price is also fantastic. The sandwich station was busy so I walked around the store grabbing other items I needed. I came back and the gentlemen was still making sandwiches, I never got his name, though I wish I did because he asked "Jake" his co-worker to help me out. Jake seemed extremely agitated. As soon as I begin to rattle my order he tells me to "slow down" and he's giving me a rude glare. After I wanted to make sure I ordered a large and "Jake" said "yeah I got that" with a very snarky tone behind it. Honestly did not appreciate the disrespect even if you are busy you shouldn't take it out on the customers. I hope Jake figures out how to treat everybody with kindness and grows out of rudeness. Next time I will request that Jake does not take my order or...
