Van's Barber Shop — Local services in Kingsland

I really, really thought I could trust this place based off its reputation and reviews. My child and I came here after the beauty shop next door directed us there as the stylist didn’t have any help there to cut our hair. She said the barbers would be able to cut our hair no problem. Well she was wrong. I showed the barber (the owner I believe) photos of the simple short styles we wanted. What we got was NO WHERE near the photos shown. My child literally has bald spots at the back of the head and none of the hair is even. None of it. On top of it all, he shaped up the front of our hair too. Like what? I was nervous to go here since I have never been to a barber shop or a black-owned hair place. Now I know I shouldn't be wary. Salons never cut my hair right, and I wasn't sure if Van was familiar with white hair. However, he did my hair fantastically, and I never felt uncomfortable the entire time, even as a trans person. So I visited the beauty shop on dec 31st and had my hair dyed, roots were in need. I then had a sick press done. It was great!!!
