Hoping our experience helps other families before they go!!!
Believe the negativesā¦positives are easy to skew.
Blackburn was our worst pumpkin patch experience. We left disappointed and feeling ripped off. We ended up spending double over the weekend because we still needed to satisfy our yearly fun! (Corn maze/pumpkinā¦shouldnāt be too much to askā¦.)
Our family of four has visited Oakeās, Deep Well, Echo Valley, Kykerāsā¦Blackburnā¦.we usually go all out and spend $$$ on whatever they have to offer.
The owner replying to reviews in an attempt to do damage control while still blaming customers for not seeing what they didnāt want you to see is why we decided to share our review also.
They failed to make it crystal clear that they had no corn maze until after fall break halfway through Oct. It wasnāt on their website UNTIL AFTER people complained. I saw it listed Friday 10/11, as did othersā¦They āforgotā their websiteā¦?? Come on. They did post it on social mediaā¦once⦠buried back in September before they openedā¦.And they were kind enough to place a āreminderā AFTER fall break and after we visited. A business that truly wants you to knowā¦will make sure you know.
Itās all about transparency! People should get what they pay for. They should have all this info readily available BEFORE. No one should have to DIG for that info. It doesnāt matter that you posted it nowā¦for all the people who already got ripped off visiting your farm. Some wonāt even realize they were ripped offā¦because they donāt visit enough patches to know the difference in what they should be receiving. Be honestā¦
They claim they āalertedā people about the lack of pumpkins at the counterā¦not accurate for us. We were not alerted about ANYTHING negative when we arrived. INSTEADā¦.she happily explained what all we get with THE WORKS ticketā¦($25)!!! This was just Friday!
Then the mini pumpkin were empty twice when we came to do thatā¦and a slingshot was broken.
The goats didnāt want to visit/eat. It was early. We gave our food away after trying several different times to get their interest. I donāt blame them but stillā¦kids like to feed goats. Thatās the point.
The pumpkin patch was nearly empty and what remained was stinky and rottingā¦.. We struggled to find a pumpkin decent enough for the kids to leave with.
They had portable toilets which is okay. But ā¦people asking where to wash hands. I pointed one lady toward the animals where I thought they at least had some sanitizerā¦.between playing with animals, dirt, sticky donuts, and outhousesā¦pretty gross. The other farms do have sinks and soap.
The Home Depot skeleton is broken, holding its head. š¤·āāļø canāt even get that! Lol
The corn mazeā¦non-existent. There are a few short brown corns stalksā¦but it is not a corn maze. Sneaky deception on that endā¦
4wheeler running through the crowd of kidsā¦driven by a girl (not an adult)ā¦. No staff monitoring the brown corn stalks either where kids were running around with a train running throughā¦
What else? ā¦.ohhh. The bikes/carts are very worn or broken. Most kids couldnāt get going. I had a 5 & 6 yr oldā¦they couldnāt. We saw some older kids try as well and left because they just didnāt work good. Gears stripped and too much loose gravel to spin on. Not a prob at Oakeāsā¦or at Kykerās where our 5 yr old zoomed all dayā¦but surely thatās our fault tooā¦
Not even worth $10 when you compare it to the others and what you get.
Go elsewhere and make sure your family has a wonderful time supporting a farm that cares about their visitors and delivering on what they promise. For the first time everā¦we went to a pumpkin patch Fridayā¦and then again Saturday because Friday was such a letdown. Save yourself the travel,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery cute place to be stung by bees.
Seriously, why is there literally an apiary in the parking lot?? (Pro tip: Apple cider slushies are perfect for attracting bees)
Also, the pumpkin patch had no pumpkins. Not sure if they were overwhelmed by crowds or what but maybe you should address the, uh, lack of pumpkins at a pumpkin patch.
The $20 "enhanced" admission that included a pumpkin is perplexing since general admission is $15, but we were told we could pick from any of the $1 pumpkins (see aforementioned MISSING PUMPKINS) next to the pricing guide that showed a larger $5 pumpkin. (Pro tip #2: Don't spring for the $20 ticket)
Bizarre attractions too. "Maze" is a 1 hay bale high spiral that is a fit for the 3 and under crowd. The barrel ride was a literal dust storm - the kids came back looking like they were in Mad Max. I think the 3 goat "petting zoo" (you reach in with hands, don't actually enter the animal area) might collapse before Halloween.
1 star for the scenic location. 1 star for the handful of attractions perfect for the 5 and under crowd (this place is for toddlers, not for older kids - wish we knew that ahead of time).
Blackburn Farm was designed for Instagram shares, not the experience. All sarcasm aside, I hope this review is helpful for families like mine trying to find the best place to spend a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is going to be one of our favorites, the staff was super friendly, very intimate smaller farm, it sits right on the river which is beautiful on a warm October day. We paid $25 dollars for all the activities. They have pumpkin slingshots ( you get five mini pumpkins) to hit a couple of targets. They have a small petting zoo(3 or 4 goats and a calf) they have seating areas in the barn and a covered pergola outside, the food menu is really good, hot dogs, nachos and pulled pork sandwiches, the apple cider slushy and donut combo we're delicious. They have packaged condiments. On our way out the owners had spoke to us briefly, super friendly and courteous. He joked about us hiking down by the river, they have swing chairs on an A frame on the river. They also have a hay ride and hay swings. Good place for the kids not as busy as other areas. Come down to Blackburn Farm and enjoy the scenery, food and relaxing atmosphere. A lot more things for...
