The only reason I scored 1 star, is based solely on the website. I live 40 miles away and need a pair of Red Wing boots for work. My company is paying for most of the cost, so I checked the website as to what choices for boots I had. Disappointingly, the website does not get detailed enough for my needs. Sure, Locust Grove sells them, but now I have to actually go to the store to see if they have the boot I want. Probably better than 50/50 they won't and my 80+ mile trip will have been for nothing. My local Red Wing suppliers' choices are very limited and I'm not satisfied with what they have, so I thought I'd check online for other suppliers near me. Locust Grove is the next closest store to me. Again, I haven't been to store yet, but the website needs to expand what a customer can see. I click on work boots, then get shown all the name brands they carry. I click on Red Wing, and nothing happens! It should show me every available boot in stock, by Red Wing. Sure, inventory changes. I understand that. But how hard is it to take a pic of a new boot and post on website or say "discontinued" under a boot that's already there. "On Sale Now" listing would be another website option that could be utilized for the public view. Come on Locust Grove. Get with the times.
Update: As I thought, only 3 styles of Red Wing boots. 2 - 8" pairs and 1 - 12" pair. Price was right, but there was only 1 pair of boots in my size. I would have bit the bullet and bought them even tho I didn't care for them, just so I could stop looking, but the stitching on left boot dug into my ankle. Not Locust Grove's fault, but like I said, only 1 pair of 9 wide in my size. The majority of 25 pairs were 10 thru 12's. A waste of time and gas. The salesman was very helpful tho. Knowledgeable and even checked the warehouse...
Read moreOut driving around doing so errands one day, I literally stumbled across Locust Grove Country Shop. Driving on the main highway through town (Route 56), there was a sign that said turn here to the Shop.
Looking at the sign on the highway, I had no idea what Locust Grove Country Shop sold (what kind of merchandise). But, I decided to see for myself.
The Shop truly is off the beaten path. Very rural, beautiful area. I was not expecting such a huge shop in the middle on nowhere.
I entered not knowing what to expect, honestly. Even from the outside of the business, it doesn't offer any information as to what's inside.
I opened the door and both a man and a woman warmly welcomed me and asked if I needed assistance. They welcomed me and said if I needed anything that I can call upon them.
Immediately into the store there was a big area of shoes-big selection of boots, sportsman type shoes, etc.
I then ventured into the store further (past the big area of shoes) and discovered all kind of motorcycle "stuff" (Harley primarily). All kinds of beautiful leather jackets, apparel, equipment, etc.
Then, venturing even further, was a large area of sportsman stuff like hunting/fishing gear, apparel, and so much more.
The store was incredibly clean and orderly. The store looks so professional, orderly, and wonderful.
Even though I myself am not a biker or a sportsman, honestly, I would highly recommend (and certainly plan to) this shop to people who are. They seem to have most everything under the sun for people whose interest aligns with Locust Grove Country Shop. And the shopping experience is second to none.
I was totally pleased with this unexpected stop. ...
Read moreIv bin buying boots from this establishment for 10-12 years their knowledge is very good but honestly being followed like your going to steal something is very annoying. I understand theft can be hugely harmful to a mom and pop store but being followed is very unprofessional. The lady kept walking by and side eyeing me pretending to not watch me and if i had a boot out she would stop and fix a box that didn't even need fixed or put a price tag on a random box and pretend like she wasn't watching me. I work with 20+ men and all say they don't like shopping here because they feel like they are treated as if they are stealing 😒. I always choose this place over big box stores to try and support a local business but as much as it pains me this will mostly likely by my last purchase. Mind you i bought boots every year at a minimum of 200+ and heavy jackets and coverall about every 3 years at 200.00+. Im far from a rich man but if there is something i want i BUY IT. I hope this criticism is seen by the owners and corrected so this business can continue to be in business for many...
