I have been wanting to start my own garden for a long time, but I let doubt shut down the process for many years. I was always convincing myself that I didn't have a "green thumb" and I let that keep me from getting started. I was lucky enough to find Tia and Gabriel with Half-a Barn Farm and decided to get the free consultation offered on their website. I am so glad that I did! They spent a lot of time evaluating my space and asking me lots of questions to help me figure out the best way to build a great garden. After we worked together to get all the details, they built a customized plan for my non-gardening self. I opted to have them do a full build and set up (because really if I was going to do it I would have by now ), but there was always the option of doing many of the parts myself with their guidance. I also opted for a customized plant o gram which gave detailed instructions on what, how, and when to plant based on my preferences. Tia and Gabriel provided the the exact amount of hand holding I needed to do it on a larger scale all while making me feel empowered to do it correctly. We are also getting them to help us build compost bins and a new coop for chickens. My kids are so excited! Because they also offer workshops and classes, I know I can get all the details and on going info I need to help us become healthier, more sustainable and that we can actually manage it on our own. If you have been waiting until someone can help you do it right-call...

I have wanted to grow my own veggies for a long time now, I have had a rain barrel and a compost bin sitting next to my house for over a year waiting to get used, so when Gabe and Tia mentioned they were going to share their homesteading expertise with folks like me who still only dream of this way of life, I was ready to sign up! we had a few different locations in mind and they came out more than once to measure and design. Educating us along the way on more than just homesteading. Being able to finally have our first garden built at our plumbing shop, Westover Plumbing, is only months away from adding chicken coop and more! You can see in the picture the old shed in the back that Half a Barn farm already said we can repurpose and make a fine home for some hens!

We ran water to the new hose bib right at the garden gate and are able to be set up for watering when we plant in a few weeks. I am so grateful to Half a Barn farm for living out their dream and allowing us to be a part! Hard work pays off in happiness more than dollars and We are...

We are so grateful to Tia, Half-a-Barn Farm, and her amazing crew for the beautiful installation of our 8x12 enclosed garden in Wake Forest!

The craftsmanship and attention to detail they brought to the project were truly exceptional — a level of care and quality that’s rare to find and so deeply appreciated.

Tia’s expertise in gardening, especially with the unique challenges of the Raleigh climate, was invaluable. Her thoughtful recommendations on placement and sizing helped us create a garden space that perfectly fits our needs and vision.

The entire project was completed in just two days, and the final result is not only stunning but also incredibly functional and easy to use. We’re already looking forward to our upcoming backyard gardening session with Tia!

Thank you for being a meaningful part of our health journey and helping us create a space to grow our own nourishing food. This garden is already making a difference...

Tia and the team at Half-a-Barn Farm were great to work with. I wanted to start gardening a little and she has helped me build my first garden beds, complete with fencing to keep the critters out. The set up they built for me is pretty, yet practical. I was going back and fourth on whether or not to invest in a greenhouse or to build beds for veggies. I am going this route for now. She came out and helped me determine the best spot for the garden and was quick to send a quote and drawings. The first option was a little more than I wanted to start with, so she downsized my option and now it’s perfect. I’m looking forward to getting my hands in the dirt and hopefully growing my family some food we can eat and even can this coming spring/summer.

I'm so happy to have found Tia & Gabe from Half-a-Barn Farm! I have been wanting to be more food independent, but am a beginner when it comes to gardening and didn't know where to start or what to do. I met them at the Wake Forest Farmer's Market and was thrilled to find out they could help me with my gardening needs and questions. They came out and did an assessment of our property and gave me advice and encouragement that I could do this. They have built 2 raised beds for me so far, and my beginner garden is flourishing! Tia has been there to answer any questions I have as I go along. I have already learned a lot from them and it is fun to grow your own food! I highly recommend them!
