First time going to an event there. Was not too difficult to find the stadium but would have preferred a few more signs along the highway indicating it was coming up and where the entrance was.
Parking appeared to be first come, first serve. (It is unknown if they offer handicap accessible parking.) We pulled in as they were opening the gates to the public and the cars extended all the way to the road, with some people actually parking across the road in the grass. We still managed to get a spot near the entrance, albiet at the road. Even so, it did not present much of a walk, it wasn't much further than parking in the 3rd row at Wal-Mart.
Gatekeepers were fairly organized and admittance was quick. Had one little hiccup with not getting the right number of ride tickets and it was immediately rectified without a hitch.
There were a few different vendors selling merchandise as well as a couple concession stands in the lines were typical for is this kind of event. There were actual restrooms which was a plus.
The show was great for how little it was. It was nice being able to be close enough to see the action without the need of binoculars. Had some big event elements with a real hometown feel to it. Was worth what we paid.
Do watch out when traveling up and down the stadium bench seating though. Several of the boards are really worn and are in need of repair or replacement. Our group remarked on the unstableness of a few boards several times in the evening. Disaster struck as we were leaving: one of those the boards snapped in half when stepped on by a teenager in my group!
Luckily no one went through the structure, but it was scary and the kid fell, banging up their knee and hand on another board. We ushered people away from it and alerted personnel to its location. Hopefully maintenance has gone through and rectified the situation. I don't want to scare anyone away from the place, I just want them to be aware of the potential danger just like it would present itself at any other event. Vigilance is key.
Leaving in a dark was a little sketchy as well with all the traffic, but I don't believe much could help the situation except for a few more road markers or better lighting.
Overall I am looking forward to more of these type of...
Read moreThey clearly only care about taking your money. Sprint week day three rained out and they told everyone we had to suck it up and show up Tuesday or get nothing, then they tried to backtrack and push the blame on the fans suggesting that we were just confused. There was nothing to be confused about, track employees were quite blunt about it. They also told fans that bought into the 50/50 that can't be there on Tuesday will have be there for it or get nothing. No regard for the fans, at all. Quite a few of us won't be coming back after that kind of treatment.
UPDATE: They are apparently going to choose to completely lie about how it went down and instead are going to pretend the fans were too stupid to understand. Blatant lies. Pathetic. They also can't serve cold beer to save their lives, always lukewarm. Officially the worst track experience in Indiana and they are allergic to taking accountability and doing better. Absolutely greedy and apathetic. I'd say do better, but they clearly aren't willing,...
Read moreEdit: after a lot of confusion and 24hrs later they decided the bands were good for one of 6 remaining events for the season. Updated review to reflect it.
Came for the Sprint Week event on 7-26. It is now rained out and they told use our tickets were only good for the Tuesday Sprint Week Makup event. I dont have time to drive a 3hr round trip on a Tuesday. Guy at the counter said sorry about ya. Yall want the sport...... Bloomington Speedway isnt my favorite track but they rained out midget week and told us the tickets could be used for any event that was equal to or less than the value of the Midget Week band we bought. Highly unimpressed with Kokomo Speedway after a lengthy trip. Id wanted to come for Smack Down in a few weeks but I won't...
