Vogel Farms — Local services in Kuna

First time to the Vogel farm store looking for turkey breast as it’s hard to find in the area. Paid over $10 per pound and thought this was high but went with it given their reputation. Brined for 4 1/2 hours in kosher salt and brown sugar, cooked it on the grill to 165 degrees. Wondered why there was a huge leg bone in the middle of a turkey breast but kept up my anticipation for a good meal. After first bite, we were surprised. After second bite we were appalled. The meat was dark and tough, lots of gristle. Not even sure it was turkey. Ended up not eating it and throwing it all out including the still frozen half in the freezer. Very friendly and customer service oriented. The farmer I bought my milk from decided to no longer provide raw milk to the public, which makes me so sad!! I had to find another place to purchase my raw milk. I chose Vogel Farms. Great place to shop for dairy, berries, meat, homemade bath and body, as well as other gift items. They will also be having a homestead class starting in Jan 2017, which I am looking forward to. They are also willing to answer any questions you have about homesteading, farming, etc. I pick up my items weekly but you can have Boise Milk deliver the products right to your door like the old milk...

We were traveling thru the area recently and as a Farming couple were looking for another farmer to talk story with. Stopped in here to Vogel's and even though they weren't open Chris came out and shared a wealth of information on the local farming scene. The real firsthand information was invaluable to my wife and I. Thanks for taking so much time out of your busy afternoon to share your insight and farm with us. Don't hesitate to make the drive out to support a local farming family. The store has a great variety and the gift shop is lovely.
