My AC was about 10 years old. I started noticing a lot of water and ice on my air filter. I removed all the covers to the unit and noticed a lot of rust and a ton of ice on the evaporator coils.. I contacted several vendors and Cool Cat responded right away. (They are open until 9pm which is super helpful).

Jay came out the next day and took a look at my AC unit. He found the Freon was leaking due to the rust. He quoted me for just coils and an entirely new inside unit. It made more sense to just replace the unit. (Yes, I did a lot research before hand on the subject). I asked him about replacing the outside/entire system as well and he gave me his honest opinion and told me no. He said it still looked good and I didn't need to waste my money on it right now.

They told me they would be out in two days to do the work. He called me at 8am on the day of the repair and was promptly onsite. He did all the work, was clean and very thorough. He ended up replacing the entire inside unit for only $500 more than what replacing just the coils would have cost and gave me a 10 year warranty on all parts and labor. He even stayed and helped me get the new unit registered and warranty setup online.

The guy seemed nice enough, I wanted to hire a local company. I scheduled a system maintenance checkup because i wanted to have my system checked because it wasn't cooling properly. I thought my evaporator might be dirty. Hey took the cover off of the inside unit and said it probably had a leak. He also said my fan was dirty. I asked him how much to clean it and the evaporator and he said he wouldn't be able to seal it back up to check it. He asked me what I thought. Um your the guy that should answer that question not me. He didn't do almost anything on his 10 point inspection. He said he could charge the system and see what that does. I let him do that and clean the condenser coil for $190. Probably a total waste of money. Because he never actually checked the system for a leak. I checked the evaporator housing after he left and it was not sealed right and leaking cold air in the closet it was in. I sealed that up. The service call wasnt thorough at all. Jay with Cool Cat AC/Heating came out to repair my mini splits on 12/1/20 at that time he detected three different leaks but only had parts for two. He decided to repair the two and refill the system with freon without discussing with me when I was on the property. When he was finished he explained to me that he would need to come back to repair properly once I ordered and received the 3rd valve. He charged me $465.00 and said it would be another $365.00 when he came back. I asked him why he did not discuss with me before he finished the job.
