Pat's Foods — Local services in L'Anse Township

I went shopping this morning (11/14) when the store opened. I was waiting at the self check out around 7:05a for them to be logged into and started up for the day. The employee who came out, a younger woman with glasses, was extremely rude. She told me in an inpatient tone that it’ll, “Take a moment” for the self checkout to boot up. It was very obvious she didn’t want to be there from her tone and the way she aggressively tapped her badge to login the machine. Well another self check out was finally up and running so I went to that one and the employee again in an annoyed tone told me, “Just wait it’s logging in.” I immediately replied back she didn’t have to be so crabby and miserable. I shop here multiple times a week and for the most part do so for convenience because we all know the prices are lower elsewhere. I will not be shopping here again. I refused to be treated like garbage. I understand we all have bad days, but this was just unacceptable. To the employee I dealt with earlier: if you don’t like your job then leave. Everyone is hiring right now. Don’t take out your own frustrations...

Way over priced. I don't understand how the health department lets this store operate....Check the expiration date on anything you purchase here. Often see "fresh" salads with mold growing on them along with their pre-cut "fresh" produce. Meat is always sketchy at best. I've never seen gray steaks and roasts in a meat cooler anywhere else before. Sometimes when walking near the meat coolers you can catch a whiff of foul rotting meat. Bought a pack of fresh chicken wings that were within expiration date. Brought the wings home, opened them and they were rancid. Kitchen stunk until the next day. Took them back and took my money to Larry's...

The store itself has a good variety of items, and good deals at the front.

However, there are some serious concerns about the management practices at this store, particularly regarding the treatment of people with learning disabilities. There have been alleged instances employees bullying other employees, which not only undermines the inclusivity of the store, but also raises ethical/legal concerns over how the store is run.
