Toured on 4/13/18, took the 2 hour tour in the Renegade, Tony was our driver. If you have not been to this area previously this should be on your list of things to do for a couple of reasons. One, UNLESS you want to drive your ride out and maybe break something and walk back you should have someone experienced take you out. Two, whatever your skill level at hard core survival this park is as challenging as it is beautiful, does'nt hurt to have someone skilled to show you around at least once.
Tony was super knowledgeable and I guarantee you will know more and be better for it after a guided tour through this area. Very passioniate about preservation for this area. For those not intimate or overly knowledgeable about desert life this is a prime opportunity to experience it firsthand and gain a new appreciation.
There are choices to make regarding ride and personal comfort level, there is the Renegade which can take 3 people, there is the Van, Army truck, and CJ, all have varying levels of comfort/carrying capacity with the Renegade being the top choice that is enclosed with A/C and smoothest ride. This is off road traveling so please keep that foremost in your mind, you will be going through washes, and varying terrain.
There are snacks and super cool refreshing lemon water during your journey.
Our journey concluded at Font's point which defies words and is a MUST SEE among other sites this park offers.
Thank you to Tony and California Overland Tours may you live long...
Read moreWe just completed a five-hour private tour with Michael McCormick of California Overland in Borrego Springs and it was fantastic! Michael knows and loves his desert and he is a thoughtful and informative guide. We took the air-conditioned Jeep Renegade, which made the trip very pleasant. The trip includes a picnic lunch, which we enjoyed at a remote oasis amid the wildflowers. The tour is worth taking whether or not there is a "super bloom." You visit places you would not easily find on your own and having Michael as your guide is a real plus. It is...
Read moreFun and informative few hours on the Badlands tour. Kids had a blast riding in the open air military vehicle. Got to explore places we could not get to on our own. We all loved taking in the special nature of this land. Very much enjoyed learning the history of this area along with the other ecological tidbits. Joe was very kind and knowledgeable, and helped us develop a deeper appreciation of this unique place. Hoping I get another opportunity to go on their...
