Fonts Point in Anza-Borrego is absolutely breathtaking!

   Read moreThis is a wonderful place to visit. Especially if you're into nature, geology, and natural beauty. It's one of San Diego county is hidden treasures. The best way to go is out of Julian down to the Anza-Borrego desert. You go through the town of borrego springs until you get to the airport sign. You turn right and pass the airport then proceed on the same road until you come to the second river wash. You turn right into the river wash and go about 4 miles till it comes to an end. The view is spectacular and it reminds me of a miniature Grand canyon. Four-wheel drive is recommended but sometimes you can drive a regular car through there. It just depends on how packed the sand is. This is a good place to visit...

mine rental car, 2WD (Nissan Maxima with traction) worked to get there. but last 1mile was tough.. had to keep speed even bumped roads. Sometimes car got hit with grounds. Can make to get by car but I agree to park the car at wide space and walk last a mile on foot if you don't want to get damage beneath of your car. If you want to try, concentrate to find the best surface. keeping right lane would be stuck somewhere. sometimes you will should run left side, but be careful with other cars.
If visiting in the afternoon, before sunset, recommended to go left side. then you would see some shadow to make scenic better. but should bring hat/cap...
