Papayo Divers — Local services in Lajas

We used Papayo Divers for snorkeling after being referred to them by our hotel. We have traveled the entire coast of Puerto Rico during our stay and have taken several excursions. Papayo Divers by far was the best!!!! Our captain Richie was amazing he was very informative and we felt very safe at all times. The reef we snorkeled was beautiful and the weather was perfect to see everything in the crystal clear. We stopped for a swim at Caracoles Cay which was just as relaxing as the snorkeling. Afterwards we had some local favorites for lunch with Richie this was the local experience we had been looking for. This excursion is very affordable for any size family. My only regret is that we already had done the bio bay kayaking with another company days earlier before hearing about Papayo Divers and their sunset and bio bay trip which is much more affordable then ours was. We will definately return to the soutwest region on our next visit to Puerto Rico and use Papayo Divers again for all our on the water needs. BEST DAY...

If you are interested in visiting the bioluminescent bay near La Parguera, I can highly recommend this crew!! We went out with a handful of people to enjoy the sunset at Cayo Caracoles, share a few Medallas, snorkel around the mangroves, and finally (once it was dark enough) drop anchor and swim among the dinoflagellates that make bio bays so magical. Leave your camera behind and just enjoy the experience first-hand, it’s not the sort of thing you can photograph beyond a stellar sunset.) On a Monday night, there were a few other boats like ours out on the water, and one big tour boat as well (30+ people on that one, yikes - and they weren’t allowed to swim around in the water!). Price was great, crew was way cool, and Victor even helped us out by knowing plenty of English to supplement my sub-par Spanish....

We did the snorkeling/bio bay tour. It was cheaper here than other places, although there's no way to book online. You have to call Richie (the owner) to arrange a time, and pay cash when you show up. We had Duane as our guide for both the private snorkeling and bio bay tours. The snorkeling was cool...the water was clear, we got to pick up different species of fish. That lasted about an hour. Then we headed to the bio bay, and got to watch the sun set. After it got dark, we jumped into the water, and the effect was unbelievable! Honestly, it's an amazing experience, like swimming in blue glitter!
