Sodak's Marina — Local services in Lakeview Township

Waited until after I was able to get a couple trips out on the water before leaving my review. First I'll start with the service I received while I was at the marina. This is the first dealership I've ever been to where you are not hounded or pestered by a pushy salesman trying to squeeze a commission out of whoever they can. They'll pull out anything you might be interested in and bring it up front for you to look at and they stay back and let go through what you want to look at without hovering over you trying to overemphasize their selling points and steer you away from anything that might not be perfect.(btw, I bought used not new). But they still stay close enough to answer any questions you might have. After you are finished going through what you want to see, then they go over any issues there might be so you don't get caught off guard once you get home.(There were a couple of cosmetic issues and the original tapedeck radio, yes I said tapedeck, that didn't work, that were pointed out that I didn't notice at first, which were no issue for me(the boat was 20 yrs old)plus they gave me a 1-time 20% off coupon that will be used soon for a new marine stereo from them). They go over all work that they have done, and after you decide to buy with them they go over everything for running the boat, basic maintenance and upkeep, and some of the finer points all in a way that a first time owner or a long time owner would understand the same. Second, the purchasing process was smooth and easy. The previous owner had an issue on the trailer title where the weight capacity for it was listed as the trailers total weight. This is something I never would have noticed but they did and let me know so I could have it fixed during the title transfer. Probably wouldn't have been a big issue but the cost of trailer registration is based on a trailers weight so they saved me money every year for as long as I own the boat. Something they didn't have to do but did anyway. Last, the boat itself. Starts right up everytime. Two, 8 hour days on the lake, skiing, tubing, and about 3 of those hours fishing and just under 3/4 a tank of gas left. Like I mentioned, I bought a 20 yr old boat so my expectations weren't crazy(maybe they should have been), I wanted something I could fish with, ski, tube, and wakeboard behind and possibly 2 skiers. 3 would be the dream but....well like I said "dream". Turns out 2 average skiers is effortless so I believe 3 is no longer a dream for me.(although they'll probably need to be pretty experienced skiers). In summary, service, sales, and product were all excellent. Everything exceeded my expectations in every possible way. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Brought my boat in last fall to have the floor boards replaced on small 14 ft Crestliner. Brandon quoted me 1200 for parts and labor and said he would work on it here and there over the winter as it's not nearly as busy. After having my boat for about 3 months he called and said to come get it as they were getting busy for spring. He did 1 floorboard in the main hull section.. 1! Charged 800$+ and on top of it didn't put the storage section back even remotely close to how the should be. Had I picked it up and not my father in law I would have lost my marbles. What a ridiculously sad attempt and a fairly simple task and still had no problem charging the 800 out of the 1200 original quote. If I had to choose between taking anything there or just dumping it in the ditch I would at least get what I expected from the...

We live in Florida, where boats are quite plentiful, but we saw what we were looking for at Sodak's Marina in South Dakota. The Owner/Operator (Brandon) was so delightful, honest and went well above and beyond what was expected to put this deal together. Everything was exactly as stated, maybe even a little better than that. Brandon packed up our boat like it just came off the assembly line, in fact it was so beautiful upon arrival that we did not want to unwrap it. I would definitely recommend this outfit to any one, anywhere looking for a boat. You don't find businesses like this very often. What a truly wonderful experience...
