Honestly am shocked this place isn’t below a 3.0. No exaggeration - it was one of the worst massage experiences I’ve ever had. For the price, I could’ve gone to my local chair massage salon 10 times instead, and gotten all my knots out. I flew in for a half day package - I can’t believe I wasted $600 on two terrible massages an hour outside the city.

I booked two 50 minute - one deep tissue and one regular. I had to pay extra for deep and booked it with who they said was best for deep tissue (as an athlete, this is literally the reason why I get massages). That morning, someone else comes to get me - no idea I was scheduled for deep tissue with another masseuse, and says she’ll be able to do a good job anyway. I got a mediocre Swedish massage. Given that I flew in from the other side of the country, I was very careful with who I picked to do what, and spent a lot of time on the phone with the front desk trying to understand the different spa offerings and providers. Just changing that up on customers at the last minute isn’t cool.

The kicker was Michael’s massage after lunch. I knew he wouldn’t do deep either (I had given up by this point), but I told him I needed a focus on feet and scalp, since these weren’t touched during the morning massage. He proceeds to lightly do my back. I was lying there wondering when he was going to move to the parts I had asked for, when he says ā€œalright we’re done now!ā€ I asked about what happened, and he said he didn’t have enough time to get to the parts I had requested, because I booked a 50 minute massage - next time I need to book 80 minutes so he can get to everything.

At this point I’m livid. I paid for TWO separate 50 minute massages, and not only did neither masseuse do what was asked for / paid for, they had the audacity to make me feel cheap for not paying for a third massage in the same day or a longer second massage? If a customer gives you TWO opportunities in one day, how do you screw both up?

My friend had Michael for her massage in the morning and had warned me that he didn’t touch her feet after she asked for a specific focus on it. She was literally laughing after her massage at how bad it was, and I stupidly thought she just wasn’t super clear about what she wanted. So I made it abundantly clear at the start with Michael that the focus needed to be on my feet during this massage…he did not even touch my feet ONCE…because he ā€œran out of time.ā€ Sounds like this guy just hates feet and maybe shouldn’t be a masseuse? Or at least not at a ā€œhigh endā€ spa where people are paying for requesting attention to certain spots and not some cookie cutter massage of the back?

In regards to the other stuff - these guys don’t even try to be pleasing. Like people say below, the water and snacks in the waiting room are third class. EVERY spa I’ve ever been to has had classy beverages and snacks except this one. The blankets people use in the waiting room aren’t swapped for the next guest (they just fold them and put them back on top). The lunch was okay, it’s nice that there’s no limit, the waitress was a sweetheart, but quality was low. I left something in my robe and they had no way of shipping it out / returning it, and claimed to have never found it anyway. The steam room was broken the day we were there. The hot tub was intermittently working at a low temp. You have to go to the front to get them to turn on the sauna if you want to use it. Overall, just too much work for what should’ve been ā€œrelaxing.ā€

In summary, these guys are super disorganized and not in the business of giving relaxing experiences and high quality massages. It’s just a bachelorette / bridal shower location for blonde girls to gather and instagram about having gone to. Also, don’t get a package - gratuity is included so they really don’t care about your experience. Just book a la carte so that they actually try. And eating lunch off site will likely be...

This was my 40th birthday present from my dad. Lord knows I won't let him know my thoughts because it was a lot of money he worked hard for and spent it on me for a half day of spa day here. First, let me sum it up with the services I received: Texas Starry Night massage and a C Facial. My massage was excellent. He was wonderful and knew what he was doing. Hard to find these days! The facial was very good as well- but keep in mind it is 50 min including the time you change and get tucked in. Also- this does NOT have extractions or steam. It's mainly you're paying for the gentle peel. Otherwise, it's washing your face, face mask, and putting cream on it. No extractions- you'll leave w pimples and blackheads the same as you walked in. That said, the aesthetician was very knowledgeable and nice.

Pros for this place: they carry quality products (Skinceuticals, Jane Iredale, Dr. Gross), service staff (therapist and aesthetician very nice), good wine selection

Cons: the lunch that is included is teeny tiny. I took a picture of my avocado hummus and my "entree" of quinoa. It didn't fill me at all. I'm glad I brought my own snacks. Next, they don't open the little mini restaurant until 11, so if you book something at 9am, bring your own food and snacks. They have apples and oranges out, but that's it. Coffee and tea are there- but no soy or almond milk seen.

Also, the women's bathrooms have NO locks on the bathroom doors. All are broken or not working. Additionally, they have one changing room (which had dirty underwear on the floor in it), so everyone is naked and changing unless you cram into an unlocked bathroom. There are windows from the outside area into the locker room, so anyone sitting outside can see you change. Not cool. The curling iron didn't work. They had 3 showers only and you need to wait since it was very busy. So plan on waiting to take a shower. Upstairs in the blue room (waiting room), the ceiling has major water damage. Brown spots all over...and a bug fell on me from goodness knows where.

The pool is crowded and limited seating. Get there early to get a spot in the shade under an umbrella. The steam room in the women's bathroom had no "eucalyptus"--essentially it was a "sweaty smelling" steam room. I inquired and they said it hadn't been cleaned in a while- they were sending someone but I had to go to my facial so didn't have time to wait.

Staff at check in made it very very clear that we are not to go to the resort area. Not the most welcoming "welcome." And while the wine is a good selection, it is extremely pricey...par for the course I guess.

Overall- I'm sure the professional staff are very good. However I feel sick to my stomach my dad spent this on me, and the entire experience would have been better spent (and less $$) by just going to Lifetime Fitness where locker rooms have locks, changing rooms, clean steam rooms, enough seating at the pool, etc. it was not worth the money. And even when I mentioned this to two sets of people who worked there, no one seemed to really be phased by it. Disappointed to say the least. Pics are of my lunch--which I supplemented with my own protein shake and snacks I...

Such a frustrating experience at Lake Austin Spa. I went to have my hair colored via a balayage technique by Carla. Prior to scheduling the appointment I sat down with her & had a detailed consultation to show her exactly the look that I wanted & to confirm that she felt confident that she could do the precise technique - she confirmed that she could. I further asked the ladies at the front desk if they had ever seen Carla's balayage & they said that she had done several of the girls who worked there and that she did a wonderful job. Having done my due diligence, I felt comfortable setting up the appointment. Needless to say, she did not do anything close to the inspiration photo & my color looked like someone from supercuts had botched my hair - meanwhile this disaster cost me $356.70. I immediately spoke to her about seeing if she could fix it because I was so disappointed - she said that she could have me come back & she could try to fix it. Don't get me wrong, she is a sweetheart & if I had just needed a single process color, i probably would have been fine. However, upon further inspection of my hair when I got home I realized that her technique was amateurish - she even had "spots" in my hair where she left a spot of blonde in the middle of a brown low-light. She said that this "calco" effect would wash out in a few washes, but as anyone would know it did not. The next day I went in person to speak to the manager Kathrin & another spa associate with an English accent & showed them my hair. They both agreed that it was poorly done & they agreed that it wasn't worth my time coming back to have Carla fix it because she simply doesn't have the skillset required to do it properly. Kathrin said that she would speak to the owners & get back to me. 1.5 weeks later after several phone message that were never returned - I finally got a hold of her in her office. She said that she had left me a message - which she did NOT. She said that the owner agreed to reimburse 1/2 my money & that i should see it on my credit card (I NEVER did). I asked her to speak to the owner again because 1/2 was not sufficient because not only did I not get what I paid for - I then needed to pay even more to another salon to do an expensive color correction. She said that she would speak to the owner once again. Nevertheless, I had not heard from her since (it's been another week), even though I have left her & the other manager Janelle several messages asking about the status of the refund. I had to start a dispute via my credit card company to see if I could get a resolution at this point. All in all - I'm shocked at the poor quality of service & the even worse customer service. For such a notable resort, I would expect an impeccable experience. You can see from the photos what I asked for & what I received - you can even see the "calico banding" - Thank goodness I now have gone to another salon who fixed it - but now I'm out of pocket over $650 from this & the...

Too bad there is not a 3.5 rating. The staff gets a 6, they are amazing! The room gets a 2.5 (the rooms are very small, there is only one comfortable chair to lounge, the TV is older so you're not able to connect your laptop hdmi without taking the TV off the wall, for example) and the old bathroom style (no glass walk in shower and the toilet area is very small, so small that I accidentally bumped the picture that was directly to the side of the toilet with my shoulder and it fell to the floor, for example.) The spa gets a 4 but could get less. I've been here twice in 4 months, and both times, the men's steam room was out of order. The food is fantastic, and the portions are perfect for those wanting to stay at a healthy weight. Overall, it's too pricey, massages are too expensive, and the wine is off the chart expensive for two examples. You can stay at Sandals in Jamaica cheaper per night. Alas, we will return, but only when there is a great special discount to make it worth it.

This wasn't a great experience and I'd recommend not checking this place out if you're a day spa guest. Upon checking in, I had to ask them where to go/what to do as it was my first time there (which they knew because they asked me). The steam room and dry sauna in the lockerooms were tiny and not functioning well. The showers did not have body wash or conditioner (both bottles empty) and there was a cup on the floor all day that was never picked up by the staff. The treatment specialist didn't communicate well and was very rough during my massage, as I had to ask multiple times to ease up so it wasn't relaxing for me. The pool was dirty, the grounds are mostly blocked off for overnight guests, and the lunch was underwhelming. Given how much this treatment was ($600 with fees/taxes), I'd say it was not worth it and likely wont return without significant upgrades.
